US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-211 hit the ground and burst into flames at the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 12th.
The de Havilland Dash 8-400 was flying from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Kathmandu, Nepal, at the time of the crash.
The plane was carrying 67 passengers and 4 crew members at the time.
At least 39 people lost their lives in the crash, while 31 people were rescued alive with injuries.
The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Who: 18 people died in the crash, mostly foreign tourists from Germany and Australia: 12 Germans, including six women, four Nepalese and two Australian. The captain is the only survivor; he was airlifted to Kathmandu. There Swiss casualties reported turned out to be Australian.
Why: Lukla airport, located 2,743 metres above sea-level has steeply-inclined runway and is considered one of the world’s most dangerous airports.

Who: pilot Harold D. Middleton, his wife Peggy G. Middleton and their fourteen year old grandson Austin Middleton
Why: A half a mile south of the airport, just after takeoff, the Cessna crashed in a corn field.
Fourteen year old Austin walked across the corn field to the airport, following the airport lights through the dark.
After reporting the accident, he was hospitalized, as was the pilot, his grandmother. His grandmother died at Kewanee Hospital.
On March 25, a Cessna T210N Turbo Centurion crashed at 5:30 a.m. in a paddock two miles from Roma Airport, Queensland. Two people were aboard, bull rider John Quintana, and the national head of Ray White’s Livestock business, Charlie Maher, both of whom died on the scene. On impact, an emergency beacon activated.
There was a 500 meter debris field. Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Canberra alerted police. Fire crews were called and Careflight but no one survived the crash.
The Australian Transport Safety Bureau is investigating the crash site at Hartley Lane in Orange Hill to begin their investigation.

The ATSB is investigating a fatal aircraft accident involving a Cessna T210N that occurred on 25 March 2013 near Roma, Queensland.
Soon after takeoff, the aircraft collided with terrain. The two occupants died in the accident and the aircraft was destroyed.
A team of four investigators will arrive at the accident site tonight to begin the on-site investigation.
The team comprises experts in engineering, materials failure and aircraft operations.

The male pilot of the Cirrus SR22 aircraft landed the plane with a parachute in the yard of a house at Lawson, Blue Mountains in New South Wales, Australia, at 2.10pm on May 10.
The pilot deployed the parachute of the aircraft at 1300 meters due to reasons not yet known. He successfully avoided houses and major power lines before parachute landing.
Both the people on board miraculously survived; only one had to be transported to hospital for neck pain. However, the front fence of the house was damaged.
Sydney Flying Club president Allan Bligh said “Cirrus light planes have a handle in the cockpit which, when pulled, fires off a cover-plate and deploys a parachute”. He further said that the pilot probably used it for the first time in his life.
Cirrus claimed that by January this year 85 lives have been saved by use of these parachutes when pilots or passengers have activated the system. There are about 200 of these aircrafts registered in Australia, mostly owned by businesses for trips of up to 1800 kilometres.

Why: Before take-off the crew failed to set the pressurisation system to “Auto,” which is contrary to standard Boeing procedures. Minutes after take-off the cabin altitude horn activated as a result of pressurization. It was, however, misidentified by the crew as a take-off configuration warning, On August 14, 2005, a Helios Airline Boeing 737-300, registered in Cyprus as 5B-DBY crashed into rolling terrain north northeast of Eleftherios Venizelos International Airport (LGAV), Athens, Greece. The nearest town to the crash site was Gramitikos, Greece. The aircraft had departed Larnaka Airport, Cyprus, two hours and 57 minutes prior to the accident.
The NTSB team joined investigators from the Greek Air Accident Investigation and Aviation Safety Board, the Boeing Company, and CFM, the aircraft’s engine manufacturer. The crash was caused by pilot incapacitation due to hypoxia brought about by depressurization, leading to fuel starvation. 121 died in the crash.
