    When: Saturday 14th November, 2009
    Who:
    Why: The plane made an emergency landing at Owen Roberts International Airport just before noon Saturday due to a cracked windshield.

    CAL denies this was an emergency.

    Update
    Incorrect “emergency” status was released by Cuban air authorities after they had approved the flight’s precautionary descent over its airspace. The plane flew at a lower altitude because of the cracked windshield, and landed safely.

    Police Chopper Lands on Street

    What: Fresno Police helicopter
    When: 9:00 PM Sunday night.
    Where: just off a runway at Fresno’s Chandler Airport. When:
    Why: The copter was following a hit and run suspect when the oil light on the instrument panel came on. No injuries.

    Air Astana Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Beja Airport

    Air Astana flight KC-1388 made an emergency landing at Beja Airport, Portugal, on November 11th.

    The plane took off from Alverca Airport, Portugal, but lost control shortly afterwards. The crew declared an emergency and subsequently landed safely at Beja Airport.

    The airline confirmed that the plane was carrying six crew members and that there were no passengers aboard.

    Portuguese Air Force had also dispatched F16 fighter jets to escort the plane.

    Allegiant Air Flight Diverts to Gainesville due to Medical Emergency

    Allegiant Air flight G4-1304 made an emergency landing in Gainesville, Florida, on May 31st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, to Punta Gorda, Florida, was diverted after one of the pilots suffered a medical emergency.

    The plane landed safely. The pilot was taken to a hospital.

    Turkish Airlines Airbus Diverts to Dehli after Bomb Threat

    Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK 0065 diverted and made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Dehli, India, on July 7.

    The Airbus 330 was heading towards Istanbul, Turkey, from Bangkok, Thailand, when it had to be diverted due to a bomb threat. According to reports, the crew had found a statement written with lipstick on toilet mirror saying, “Bomb in Cargo Hold.”

    The plane, carrying 148 people, landed uneventfully. Civil Aviation spokesperson R.N. Choubey confirmed no bomb was found in the plane.
