Plane Crash in Arizona Kills 2
2 South Carolina residents were killed after their small plane crashed in northern Arizona.
Charles Trotter, 47, of Liberty, SC and Dakota Jacks, 15, from Pickens, SC were aboard the plane which took off from Las Vegas on June 20. It then landed in Page for a while and departed again at about 1:30 p.m. Authorities said that the last contact with the pilot was established off a Navajo Mountain tower, shortly after the plane took off from Page. Coconino County Sheriff’s office confirmed that the pilot had not filed a flight plane.
According to Sgt. Aaron Dick from Coconino County Sheriff’s office, the deputies received a report of missing, South-Carolina-bound 1961 Mooney M20B plane at about 7:30 a.m. on June 22. The Civil Air Patrol Wings started the search operation, extending over Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah. He also said that they were notified about possible wreckage in Peach Canyon, Navajo Nation, at about 1:40 p.m. On June 22.
A sheriff’s deputy was then sent to the area, in a department of Public Safety helicopter, who located the wreckage of the missing plane. The bodies of both the pilot and the passenger were also found with the wreckage.
Trotter was piloting the time at the time of crash. His family later released a statement which said, “Charles Michael Trotter, 47 years old, died doing what he loves-flying his plane. Devoted husband, loved his wife, loved flying, and loved Jesus. Now he is at home with his Lord and Savior. May he rest in peace.”
Dakota was a friend of Trotter’s family; he attended Pickens High School and Pickens View Wesleyan Church.
The NTSB is investigating the cause of accident.

Helicopter Crash in Southern Russia Kills 4
A privately owned helicopter crashed in the mountains of Apsheron district, in southern Russia, on the evening of June 28.The helicopter was carrying 4 people when it crashed; all of them were killed. The deceased have been identified as A.I. Goncharenko, 53, S.V. Yelugyan, 46, A.S. Yelugyan, 23, and E.B. Yelugyan, 13.
Goncharenko was flying the helicopter at the time of accident.
Russia’s Emergency Situations Ministry statement said that the accident happened due to some technical fault.
Light Plane Crashes in South Australia; 3 Killed
A light plane crashed near the Renmark Aerodrome, Old Calperum, South Australia, on the evening of May 30th.
The Cessna 441 Conquest II was on a routine crew check flight at the time.
All three pilots were killed in the crash.
The decreased were identified as Paul Daw, 65, Martin Scott, 48, and Stephen Guerin, 56.

Couple Killed in New Mexico Plane Crash
A small plane crashed near Route 66 Casino, west of Albuquerque, New Mexico, on October 16th.
The plane was trying to land at the Double Eagle II Airport in Albuquerque but could not make it. Two people were aboard at the time, including pilot Michael Vavrek, 68, and his wife Judy Vavrek, 67; both were killed in the crash.
The FAA is investigating.

S Korea Helicopter Crash Kills 3 Rangers

Why: The helicopter was participating in training for dumping water on forest fires when it crashed. Rescuers found the wreckage in the lake, with only its tail protruding above the water line.The aviation office lost contact with the helicopter about 12:15. It was practicing filling up the tank with water from the lake. Since the weather is calm, it is not known if wind was a factor, or practice, or if this was a case of mechanical failure. Sixteen Russian model Ka-32Ts are in use by the forestry service, to put out forest fires.
The deceased are a 52-year-old crew chief named Park, and a 46-year-old and a 44 year old, both named Lee.

Helicopter Crashes While Filming Robbery

Where: Sao Paulo’s jockey club
When: February 10
Who: Pilot and cameraman
Why: News network’s Astar helicopter developed rear engine failure and careened to the grass of Sao Paulo’s jockey club. The pilot managed to avoid rush hour traffic on Marginal Pinheiros, and no one on the ground was injured. The cameraman Alexandre Borracha was conscious when on the way to the hospital, surviving with serious injury. The pilot Rafael Delgado Sobrinho was found slumped over the controls died on the scene. The accident was filmed by another news crew.Pilot of the helicopter filming the crash incident was Globo pilot Dato de Oliveira, who followed and landed, and rushed to assist; he turned off the fuel pump and battery to avoid an explosion.
Both crews were in the area filming a bank robbery.
