Piper Crashes in Colorado

What: small twin-engine 1982 PA-60 Piper Aerostar was owned by BDW Equipment Leasing out of Las Vegas en route to McElroy Airfield
Where: in a hay meadow on Grand Valley Ranch , Grand County Colorado near Kremmling
When: 8:25 p.m. Thursday Sept 18
Who: Two people and two dogs are confirmed dead, (and currently unidentified)
Why: The crash occurred on the plane’s final approach to McElroy Airfield. The cause of the crash has not been determined. Witnesses say plane spiraled out of the sky and into the mountainous terrain. FAA was attempting to contact family members in Las Vegas. The National Transportation Safety Board has begun an investigation

    Flight School Cessna and Military Piper Collision In Argentina

    What: (Fuerza Aérea Argentina) Argentine Air Force Piper PA-A28-236 Dakota light aircraft
    Where: Mercedes Airport, Argentina
    When: 21-NOV-2011 09:45 LT
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: On approach to Mercedes Airport, an Argentine Air Force Piper PA-A28-236 Dakota collided with an aviation school Cessna 152.

    Both the flight school crew members in the Cessna 150 were killed in the crash. The Piper PA-28 landed safely. The two military personnel aboard the Piper survived.

    According to witness Boloni Eduardo, the Air Force plane cut the back of the Cessna with its propeller, causing it to fall

    Firefighters, police, ambulance, Air Force, and Civil Aviation Accident Investigation Board were on the scene. Mercedes is a public air field with no control tower.

    Two Injured as Delta Airlines Plane Hits Turbulence Near Denver

    Delta Airlines flight DL-2302 experienced severe turbulence near Denver, Colorado, on March 23rd.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane was heading from Atlanta, Georgia, to Vail, Colorado, when it was hit by turbulence that injured two flight attendants.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    Piper Decked on Roanoke Island Deck

    What: Piper Saratoga 32-R owned by PIPER LANCE HOLDINGS LLC, a six seater, single engine aircraft En route to Dare County Airport
    Where: Roanoke Island North Carolina- on the upper back deck of a private residence on Joclar Lane in Manteo.
    When: 5:57 pm
    Who: two individuals on board; pilot Frank Snodgrass and son both were taken to Outer Banks Hospital. The son was trapped inside the cockpit, and sustained a broken arm and injured ribs.
    Why: When attempting to land at the Dare County Regional Airport, the plane hit a tree and then crashed into a house. The home owners and their six year old daughter were in the house at the time and were not hurt. The homeowner helped get the people out of the wreckage. They walked on their own power to the ambulance.

    What: twin engine Piper Aztec en route from Nassau to Freeport
    Where: Runway 24 at the Grand Bahama International Airport.
    When: Sunday
    Who: pilot of the aircraft, 33-year-old Brevis Cox and four passengers: Ashnell Miller, Thera Seymour, Darren Rahming, and Jinnah Forde
    Why: On landing, both landing gears collapsed, After the successful emergency “belly” landing, the landing gear and wing flap were damaged.

    Suspicious Man Rams Pickup Truck into Southwest Plane in Nebraska

    southwest_airlines_logoA man wearing boxers scaled a fence and rammed into a pickup truck into a Southwest airplane at Eppley Airfield, Omaha, Nebraska, on August 25th.

    The aircraft was bound for Denver, Colorado, when the man drove the truck and rammed it into the plane’s nose gear.

    Two crew members and one passenger sustained minor injuries in the accident.

    The man was taken into police custody for further investigation.
