    What: TAP Air Portugal Airbus A340-300 en route from Lisbon to Luanda
    Where: Lisbon
    When: Dec 6 2010
    Why: En route over the airport, the crew received a fuel filter error message, and returned to Lisbon to make a safe landing. The flight circled for an hour and dumped fuel; and was back in the air on Tuesday.

    Transavia Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Amsterdam

    Transavia flight HV-6331 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on February 1st.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane took off for Valencia, Spain, but had to turn back after the crew reported navigation system problems.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Biman Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dhaka

    Biman Bangladesh AirlinesBiman Bangladesh Airlines flight BG 047 had to make an emergency landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka, Bangladesh, on February 6.

    The Dubai-bound Boeing 777-200ER jet, carrying 241 passengers, took off from Chittagong at 12:33 a.m. However, after just a few minutes, an in-flight surge damaged one of its engines and caused a loud bang. The pilot then shut down the engine and sought permission for an emergency landing in Dhaka.

    According to an airline statement, “The aircraft landed safely with passengers disembarking the aircraft normally. An alternative aircraft was made available and took off from HSIA at 3:36am for Dubai.”

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on I-8 in Arizona

    A small plane made an emergency landing on Eastbound Interstate 8 near Stanfield, Arizona, at around 6:27 p.m. on November 11.

    According to Tim Gaffney, director of administration for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office, the FAA informed the authorities about a small aircraft that sent a mayday signal and was descending.

    The pilot, his wife and 10-year-old daughter remained uninjured.

    The eastbound lanes were closed for traffic immediately after the incident but were re-opened at around 9:45 p.m.

    The FAA will investigate.

    PSA Airlines Jet Diverts to Dayton due to Hydraulic Failure

    American AirlinesPSA Airlines flight AA-5394 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Dayton, Ohio, on January 15.

    The Canadair CRJ-700 aircraft was en-route from Des Moines, Iowa, to Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Virginia, when the crew decided to divert due to hydraulic failure.

    The plane, being operated on behalf of American Airlines, landed uneventfully. There were 69 passengers aboard at the time; all of the remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement aircraft for the passengers.

    Icelandair Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brussels

    IcelandairIcelandair flight FI-554 made an emergency landing in Brussels. Belgium, on March 10th.

    The pilot of Boeing 757-200 plane, flying from Keflavik, Iceland, declared emergency due to a problem with the flaps.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
