ShandsCair Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing due to Unruly Patient

A ShandsCair helicopter made an emergency landing at Belleview High School in Marion County, Florida, on October 4th.

The pilot decided to make an emergency landing after a patient became aggressive and attacked the medical team mid-air.

The aircraft landed safely. The 66-year-old male patient was taken to Ocala Regional Medical Center.

PIA Flight Diverts to Berlin due to Medical Emergency

Pakistan International Airlines flight PK791 had to divert for an emergency landing in Berlin, Germany, on February 9th.

The plane took off from Islamabad, Pakistan, and was en-route to Birmingham, United Kingdom, when a British woman passenger fell ill. The crew declared a medical emergency and diverted to Berlin.

The plane landed safely.

The patient was rushed to a hospital where the doctors pronounced her dead.

Air India Flight Diverts to Jaipur due to Medical Emergency

An Air India flight made an emergency landing at Sanganer Airport in Jaipur, India, on January 28th.

The plane heading from Rajkot to Delhi was diverted after a passenger suffered a cardiac arrest.

The plane landed uneventfully. The patient was rushed to a hospital.

Medical Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in New Mexico

A medical helicopter had to make an emergency landing at Kirtland Central High School, in Kirtland, New Mexico, on January 12th.

The chopper was transporting a patient from Kayenta Health Center in Kayenta, Arizona, when the pilot received a low fuel indication and decided to make an emergency landing.

The helicopter landed safely. The patient was taken to hospital in an ambulance.

Medical Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in Dallas

A PHI Air Medical helicopter had to make an emergency landing at West Mockingbird Lane and Irving Boulevard in Dallas, Texas, on October 26th.

The aircraft was on its way to pick up a patient when the pilot reported a possible fuel leak and decided to make an emergency landing.

The helicopter landed safely. No injuries were reported.

“We dispatched a different aircraft to pick up the specialized maternal team and complete the transport… We are grateful that the appropriate protocols were followed and all are safe”, PHI Air Medical said in statement.

IndiGo Airlines Flight Diverts to Hyderabad due to Medical Emergency

IndiGo AirlinesIndiGo Airlines flight 6E-716 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, in Hyderabad, India, on October 6th.

The plane heading from Kolkata, West Bengal, to Bengaluru, Karnataka, was diverted after a passenger started experiencing chest pain and breathlessness.

The plane landed uneventfully. The patient was rushed to hospital.

Air Canada Flight Diverts to Shannon Airport due to Medical Emergency

Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC-895 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Shannon Airport, Ireland, on September 29th.

The plane heading from Milan, Italy, to Toronto, Canada, was diverted after a passenger became ill.

The plane landed safely. The patient was taken to University Hospital Limerick after initial treatment by the paramedics at the airport.

REACH Aircraft Crashes in California; 4 Killed

REACH AirA REACH Air Medical Services aircraft crashed in Humboldt County, North Coast, California, on July 29th.

The Piper PA31 flying from Crescent City Airport, to Oakland International Airport, California, was mid-air when the crew declared emergency due to smoke in its cockpit, and later it lost connection with radar.

The plane debris was found the next morning.

All 4 people onboard including 3 crew members and one patient were killed.

Medical Helicopter Crash in California Kills 4

helicopter_crashesA medical helicopter crashed near Sherwood Avenue and Highway 65 in Kern County, California, on December 10.

Authorities said the Skylife H-4 helicopter took off from Porterville Airport and was transporting a patient to San Joaquin Community Hospital, Bakersfield, California, when it went down.

All four people aboard, including the pilot Thomas Hampl, nurse Marco Lopez, paramedic Kyle Juarez and the patient, were killed in the crash.

The cause of crash is being investigated.

Turkish Airlines Plane Makes Priority Landing in Istanbul

Turkish airlinesTurkish Airlines flight TK2659 made a priority landing at Istanbul Atatürk Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, on November 14.

The Boeing 737-800 was flying from Sivas, Turkey, when an asthma patient passenger fell ill mid-air. The pilot then contacted the air traffic control, saying “Our asthma patient passenger has low blood pressure. We have doctor in the cabin. Doctor is frequently checking the blood pressure. If it possible we would like to land on as soon as possible sir.”

The plane landed uneventfully. It is believed that the patient’s condition had become better during landing.

Medical Helicopter Crashed in Wichita Falls; Patient Killed, Crew Members Seriously Injured

Crash fireA medical helicopter, on its way to United Regional Health Care, Wichita Falls, Texas, went down just a few blocks away from its destination, shortly before 2 a.m. on October 4.

The Air Evac Lifeteam helicopter crashed when it was transporting a patient from Waurika, Oklahoma to the North Texas hospital.

There were 3 crew members, including a pilot, a flight and a paramedic, aboard the aircraft, along with the patient.

The authorities confirmed that the patient lost his life in the accident, while the crew members sustained serious injuries. The pilot is admitted in United Regional Health Care where his condition is believed to be serious but stable. The paramedic and nurse are being treated at a burn unit in Dallas, however, both of them are in critical condition.

The incident is being investigated.
