    Horizon Air Flight Returns to Spokane due to Landing Gear Issue

    Horizon AirHorizon Air flight QX-327 had to return and make an emergency landing in Spokane, Washington, on September 19th.

    The plane took off for Seattle, Washington, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an issue with the landing gear.

    The plane landed safely. All 73 people aboard remained safe.

    US Airways Makes Emergency Landing

    What: US Airways Embraer 170
    Where: Indianapolis
    When: Jan 2, 2012 7:30
    Who: 70 aboard
    Why: On Jan 2, 2012, at 7:30, a US Airways Embraer 170 en route from Indianapolis to Philadelphia flight developed a nose wheel problem. The flight diverted to Indianapolis where they made a safe landing at 7:40.

    What: British Airways Avro 146 RJ100 passenger jet en route from Amsterdam to London City
    Where: London City Airport
    When: Feb 13 2009 Friday evening about 8 p.m
    Who: 67 passengers and four crew members
    Why: On landing, the front wheel collapsed, and as the plane scraped on it’s belly across the tarmac, the cabin filled with smoke. Everyone debarked from the rear of the plane via emergency slide. There were a few emergency slide injuries-

    What: JAD Taxi Aeréo Embraer EMB-810C Seneca en route from Porto Alegre to Santa Mari
    Where: Porto Alegre-Salgado Filho
    When: Nov 16, 2009
    Who: Pilot and copilot
    Why: Immediately after takeoff, the crew detected problems with the landing gear and requested a return to the airport. On landing, the gear was stuck, and the plane made a forced belly landing, sustaining significant damage.

    Charlotte Emergency landing

    What: US Airways/PSA CRJ2 Charlotte to Charleston,WV
    Where: Charlotte-Douglas International airport.
    When: Feb 12, 2012
    Who: 44 passengers 3 crew
    Why: A flight from Charlotte to Atlanta had just taken off when the plane began making unidentified noises. In about an hour after take-off, pilots returned to the airport to make a safe landing with emergency services on standby.

    Passengers were provided alternative flights.

    Engine Issues Forced Emergency Landing at Philadelphia International Airport

    US AirwaysA US Airways Express jet, operated by Republic Airlines, had to return and make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport, Pennsylvania, on the morning of December 29.

    The Embraer 175 aircraft took off from Philadelphia for Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, New Hampshire, but had to turn back just minutes later, due to an engine problem. Some passengers reported that they heard a loud boom and saw fiery flashes shooting out of the plane.

    The plane landed safely and all 75 passengers and 4 crew members remained unharmed.

    The airline accommodated the passengers in another flight while the plane was taken for examination.
