    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Lightning Strike

    American Airlines flight AA-134 had to return and make an emergency landing in Miami, Florida, on September 1st.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Seattle, Washington, but had to turn back due to a lightning strike.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Air Astana Airbus A321-200 en route from Almaty to Astana
    Where: Almaty Kasakhstan
    When: Sep 24th 2009
    Who: 59 on board
    Why: While en route, the indicator revealed overheated hydraulics fluid before it failed. The flight returned to Almaty and landed safely.

    Qantas Airways Flight Diverts to Singapore due to Engine Issues

    Qantas Airways flight QF-10 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Singapore, on February 6th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Melbourne, Australia, was diverted due to a mechanical problem with one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    US- Bangla Plane Crashes in Nepal; 39 Killed, others Injured

    US-Bangla Airlines flight BS-211 hit the ground and burst into flames at the runway of Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on March 12th.

    The de Havilland Dash 8-400 was flying from Dhaka, Bangladesh, to Kathmandu, Nepal, at the time of the crash.

    The plane was carrying 67 passengers and 4 crew members at the time.

    At least 39 people lost their lives in the crash, while 31 people were rescued alive with injuries.

    The cause of the crash is under investigation.

    Round of DNA Testing Begins in Ethiopia Crash

    What: Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 en route from Beirut to Addis Ababa
    Where: 2 miles west of the coastal village of Na’ameh.
    When: Jan 25 2010
    Who: 7 crew 83 passengers
    Why: Shortly after taking off in stormy weather and heavy lightning, Lebanese ATC lost contact. The plane disappeared from radar 45 minutes after leaving Beirut. Witnesses on the coast saw the plane as it crashed into the sea.

    Other than one British citizen and one Syrian, families of all of the victims have submitted DNA to help identify relatives remains although only a portion of the 90 aboard have been found since the crash on January 25 into the Mediterranean sea minutes after takeoff. The plane’s black box and main sections of the plane have not yet been located but a U.S. Navy ship, the USS Ramage, detected signals from the black box flight recorders at a depth of 4,265 feet

    The government of Lebanon has formally requested U.S. Odyssey Marine Explorations for submarine assistance in retrieval of victims, the black box and assorted wreckage.

    GETJET Airlines Flight Makes Emergency in Lithuania

    GETJET Airlines flight GJT-101 made an emergency landing in Vilnius, Lithuania, on November 25th.

    The Boeing 737-400 plane took off for Hurghada, Egypt, but had to turn back after the crew received indication of a landing gear problem.

    The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and sixty people aboard remained unharmed.
