Why: While en route, the plane developed flap problems.
Pilots diverted to Fuerteventura and made a safe landing.
An Atlas Air plane crashed into Trinity Bay near Houston, Texas, on February 23rd.
The Boeing 767-300 freighter plane, operating as an Amazon Air flight, was heading from Miami, Florida, to Houston, Texas, when it went down.
There were three crew members aboard at the time. One dead body was recovered near the crash site while the other crew members remain missing.
MELBOURNE, Victoria, Feb. 22, 2011 — The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] will highlight the products and services that the Australian Defence Force (ADF) depends on every day during this year’s Avalon 2011 Australian International Airshow. The show begins March 1 at Avalon Airport near Melbourne and coincides with the 90th anniversary of the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF).
“Boeing is committed to providing products and services that allow the ADF to carry out vital operations in-country and overseas,” said Bill Profilet, Boeing Defense, Space & Security vice president, Australia Business Development. “We’re proud of our 85-year relationship with the RAAF and look forward to furthering this partnership for years to come.”
Boeing products on display during the show include the RAAF’s F/A-18F Super Hornet, F/A-18A Hornet, C-17 Globemaster III and 737 Wedgetail Airborne Early Warning & Control (AEW&C) aircraft and the Insitu ScanEagle unmanned aircraft system. Boeing-manufactured aircraft displayed by other countries will include a U.S. Air Force KC-135 Stratotanker and C-17 Globemaster III, and a Royal New Zealand Air Force Boeing 757.
The Boeing-sponsored Afternoon Airshow and Night Alight Finale on March 4 will feature the RAAF’s new advanced, multirole Boeing F/A-18F Super Hornets. Boeing will hold a series of briefings on key products and programs throughout the show. Each day, media can check the briefing schedule at the media center and Boeing chalet for updates.
Boliviana de Aviacion flight OB-314 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Cochabamba, Bolivia, on February 6th.
The plane flying from La Paz, Bolivia, was on approach to Uyuni, Bolivia, when the crew reported unsafe gear and decided to divert.
The plane landed safely. All 31 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.
The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
An Allegiant Air flight heading to Missoula, Montana from Las Vegas had to be diverted for making an emergency landing at Wendover, Nevada on June 13.
The plane was carrying 146 passengers and 6 crew members at the time of incident; all of them remained unharmed.
Jessica Wheeler, a spokesperson for Allegiant, said the plane diverted and landed safely after a hydraulic warning light came on. She also said that Allegiant sent a replacement plane from Las Vegas to pick up the passengers and take them to Missoula.
Some passengers said the issue appeared to be more serious than a mere warning light.
Allegiant’s maintenance crew is examining the plane.
Blue Air flight 08-113 had to return and make an emergency landing at Henri Coand? International Airport, Romania, on May 9th.
The Boeing 737-400 flying to Valencia, Spain, had to return after burning off fuel due to bird strike.
The plane landed safely.
All 143 people aboard remained safe.
Air Baltic flight BT-9802 returned to Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 24th.
The Boeing 737-500 plane took off for Riga, Latvia, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
