United Airlines flight 922 had to return and make an emergency landing at Newark Liberty International Airport, New Jersey, on January 14.
The flight departed for London Heathrow Airport at around 10 a.m. but had to turn back shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.
The Boeing 767-300 landed back uneventfully. All 84 passengers and 13 crew members remained unharmed.
Airline spokesperson Rahsaan Johnson said, ‘We cancelled the flight so our maintenance team could service the aircraft, and we provided customers alternate flights to their destinations.’
