Air Nelson flight NA-8117 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Auckland Airport, Auckland, New Zealand, on July 9th.
The De Havilland Dash 8-300 had taken off for Palmerston North, New Zealand, when its left hand engine failed, prompting the crew to return.
The plane landed uneventfully.
All people onboard remained unharmed.
The flight was cancelled and passengers were rebooked onto other flights.
A small plane made an emergency landing on train tracks in South Anchorage, Alaska, on October 30th.
The pilot of the Cessna 185 plane said he was forced to make an emergency landing after the engine stopped working shortly after taking off from Flying Crown Airport, Anchorage.

Why: Six miles from the airport, the crew discovered that the plane’s landing gear was stuck. After the flight circled for two hours burning fuel, the plane landed safely on the main landing gear on a 200-yard long bed of foam. No injuries were reported.
Carpatair vice-president Dan Andrei is reported to have said, “When it landed, the plane came down on the side wheels; it braked sharply and at a low speed it came on its front belly, while the front landing gear remained stuck.”
Malaysia Airlines flight MH135 had to make an emergency landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Bali, Indonesia, on October 24.
Airport spokesperson confirmed that the flight, en-route from Kuala Lumpur to Brisbane, requested a priority landing because an Australian passenger went into labour.
The plane, carrying 178 passengers, safely landed at 2:10 p.m. The woman, identified as Samual P. Jeyanthi, was shifted to Kasih Ibu Hospital.
The flight resumed its journey at 4:14 p.m.
