    What: IndiGo Airbus A320-200 en route from Kolkata to Chennai
    Where: Kolkata
    When: Jan 20th 2010
    Why: After takeoff, flaps were locked in position. The plane returned to Kolkata and made a safe landing. No indication is made if the flight was cancelled, replaced, or continued after repairs.

    United Airlines Passenger Poisoner

    June 17 2013 2pm
    On an United Airlines Flight 116 from Tokyo to Newark, a passenger got up during the flight and yelled to fellow passengers that he’d poisoned everyone.

    The flight landed at 1:30 pm in Newark, and was taken into custody by the FBI and Port Authority Police. No one became ill but he was hospitalized. He is reported to be mentally disturbed.

    Loose Seats on American Airlines Flight Lead to Diversion to JFK

    What: American Airlines Boeing 757 en route from Boston to Miami
    Where: JFK
    When: Sep 29th 2012
    Who: 3 passengers
    Why: While en route, a row of seats in the coach cabin became loose in flight.

    The three passengers were provided alternative seats and pilots diverted the plane to JFK where they made a safe landing.

    Passengers disembarked and boarded another plane to continue their flight. The incident has been cited in national news reports as an example of an “increase in maintenance issues.”

    Hungarian Military Aircraft Intercept TAROM Flight After Loss of Communication

    TAROM flight RO-316 was intercepted by Hungarian military aircraft on April 28th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane heading from Munich, Germany, to Sibiu, Romania, was intercepted after it lost contact with the ATC in the Hungarian airspace.

    The communication was subsequently restored and the military aircraft returned to the base.

    The passenger plan continued for a safe landing in Sibiu.

    The incident is under investigation.

    Medical Emergency Prompts Allegiant Air Plane to Divert to Kingman Airport

    AllegiantAn Allegiant Air plane made an emergency landing at Kingman Airport in Mohave County, Arizona, on September 22.

    Authorities said the flight, heading from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Las Vegas, Nevada, had to be diverted due to a medical emergency. It is believed that a female passengers started experiencing heart issues mid-air.

    The plane, carrying 140 passengers, landed uneventfully.

    The patient was taken off the plane and the flight resumed shortly afterwards.

    Xiamen Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in China

    Xiamen Airlines flight MF-8106 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Nanchang, China, on February 17.

    The Boeing 787-800 was heading from Beijing to Xiamen, China, when an oil indication prompted the crew to to shut down the right hand engine and divert for an emergency landing.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.
