On March 19, 2013, an Aeroclub de Muchamiel Piper PA-28-161 Cherokee Warrior en route from Spain’s MUTXAMEL airport had three people aboard when it suffered some kind of mechanical problem, possibly engine failure.
A fourteen year old girl, Belen, along with her father, Jose Antonio Perez, and uncle Ricardo died in the crash at 12: 37.
The uncle was the pilot and flight instructor.
The plane crashed in Paraeta Espí, in an olive grove 500 meters from the town called Ibi. On impact, the cabin broke in two, and left a debris field with a hundred yard radius.
Local residents reported the crash to authorities. The Guardia Civil (local police) arrived on the scene. The bodies were removed by four in the afternoon and taken to the Forensic Anatomical Institute of Alicante for autopsies.
Eyewitnesses say the plane had been circling and flying very low as if looking for somewhere to land, and the pilot dodged cottages when it came down.

Why: After takeoff, the pilot complained of a problem in his right engine. The pilot attempted to return to the airport, but the plane crashed into a residential neighborhood and exploded.
A 1993 YAK-55M single engine plane crashed at Stevens Point Municipal Airport, Portage County, Wisconsin, while performing in an air show just before 12:30 p.m. on June 1.
The single-seater plane especially designed for aerobatics competitions was performing aerial maneuvers during the aerobatics portion of the biennial air show when it crashed into a wooded area close to the airport runway. One of the eye witnesses described the incident saying, “the airplane spiralled toward the ground, looped up, and then crashed into the trees.”
The 47 year old pilot died on the spot. He has been identified as William Cowden, of Menomonie.
All the festivities at the airport were stopped immediately after the plane went down.
Stevens Point police secured the site until officials of the Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board arrived to conduct further investigation. Police are asking anyone having video of the incident to contact Detective Sgt. Joe Gruber at (715) 346-1518.

On behalf of everyone at flydubai, I would like to express the devastation we all feel in relation to this morning’s tragic events in Rostov-on-Don. Our primary concern is for the passengers and crew involved at this tragic time. Everyone in our company is in deep shock and our hearts go out to all loved ones of those involved.
We are still in the process of gathering all the information we possibly can, but at this stage I will share the facts that we are able to confirm now. At 00.50GMT today flydubai flight FZ981 crashed at Rostov-on-Don and I am very sorry to say that we believe that there are no survivors. Onboard the aircraft, 55 passengers including 33 women, 18 men and 4 children and 7 crew members of whom 5 were male and 2 were female. The nationalities of the passengers included 44 Russians, 8 Ukrainians, 2 Indians and 1 Uzbekistani.
I am personally leading our accident response with the support of the full management team. At this stage the focus of our efforts is on establishing the facts around the incident and providing all possible support to the authorities.
As I speak members of our team are contacting relatives of the passengers and crew who were on board and we are offering any help we can to those affected.
In addition, we have activated our Emergency Response Team who are on their way now to the site.
We do not yet know all the details of the incident but we are working closely with the authorities to establish precisely what happened. We are making every effort to care for those affected and will provide assistance to the families and friends of those who were on board.
Finally, I would like to say once more how deeply we feel for those affected by this tragedy.

flydubai very much regrets to confirm that the accident involving flight number FZ981 at Rostov-on-Don earlier today has resulted in 55 passenger fatalities including 33 women, 18 men and 4 children. flydubai is deeply sorry to confirm the following information in relation to the tragic accident involving flight FZ981 which was flying from Dubai International (DXB) to Rostov on Don (ROV). While we are still awaiting final confirmation, it is with great sadness that we report we believe there are no survivors. At this moment our thoughts and prayers are with the families of our passengers and crew who were on board the aircraft. We are working with the local emergency services and other agencies who are at the scene.
flydubai is in the process of verifying the passenger list however preliminary numbers indicate 55 passengers and 7 crew on board on the Next-Generation Boeing 737-800 aircraft. The aircraft had departed Dubai International (DXB) at 18.20GMT on Friday 18 March and was due to arrive that evening at 22.40GMT.

Sixty-one people were aboard a FlyDubai Boeing 737 that crashed today on the second approach to Rostov-On-Don in Russia, in bad weather conditions. There were no survivors. The Regional Emergencies Ministry said “The Boeing-737 fell amid poor visibility conditions 50-100 meters [164-328 feet] left of the runway.” The plane was en route from Dubai to Russia’s Rostov-on-Don. The pilots failed to land on their first pass, and on the second pass crashed after they missed the runway. The time difference between both approaches at first report appears to be nearly 2 hours. The plane had been airborne for just over six hours when it came down; AV. Herald reports that the plane carried fuel for 8.31 hours.
What: de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver en route from Pitt Meadows to Okanagan Lake

Who: three aboard, three fatalities
Why: The plane had taken off from Pitt Meadows airport and was en route back from Okanagan lake when it went down in a wooded area below Highway 97C about seven kilometers west of the Brenda Mines Road intersection. There was a fire at the scene. Witnesses say the plane was headed toward “Peachland” possibly looking for a landing site toward Merritt when it went down.
According to the NTSB, the accident site is about ten minutes out of Kelowna.
A Cormorant helicopter and a Buffalo airplane, the coroner, B.C. Ambulance, Kelowna Fire Department and Kelowna RCMP responded to the scene. The plane caught fire.
Pilot Colin Moyes, 52, and passengers Peter Keate, 81 and Inez Keate, 79 have been identified as the crash victims. The pilot had his future in-laws in the cabin. His wedding would have been June 23. He leaves behind his 11 year old son. Moyes is also survived by his fiancee and her two children. A memorial is scheduled at 2 p.m., May 27, at North Vancouver’s Pinnacle Hotel.
A 2-seat helicopter crashed on a frozen section of the Black River in northern New York on the afternoon of February 1.
The incident happened east of Watertown when the Gary Johnson, of Carthage, was taking a pleasure ride with his passenger Michael Rohr.
Both occupants of the helicopter survived the crash and were able to walk to a nearby road.
The accident is under investigation.
