Where: Elyria, Ohio When: Jan 18, 2010 at 2:08 p.m. Who: Don Brown, 89, and his wife Shirley, 87, of Vermilion Township. Pilot Wesley Roemer, 30, of Gainesville, Fla., and co-pilot John Mengelson, 46, of Florahome, Fla. Why: The plane reportedly nose-dived into the ground near Lorain County Regional Airport in New Russia Township on approach to the runway. All victims were pronounced dead at the scene.
The NTSB will be reporting.

South Yorkshire and Humberside fire and rescue services were there; the pilot was pronounced dead.

What: de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver en route from Pitt Meadows to Okanagan Lake Where: Brenda Mines When: May 13, 2012, 6:45 p.m Who: three aboard, three fatalities Why: The plane had taken off from Pitt Meadows airport and was en route back from Okanagan lake when it went down in a wooded area below Highway 97C about seven kilometers west of the Brenda Mines Road intersection. There was a fire at the scene. Witnesses say the plane was headed toward “Peachland” possibly looking for a landing site toward Merritt when it went down.
According to the NTSB, the accident site is about ten minutes out of Kelowna.
A Cormorant helicopter and a Buffalo airplane, the coroner, B.C. Ambulance, Kelowna Fire Department and Kelowna RCMP responded to the scene. The plane caught fire.
Pilot Colin Moyes, 52, and passengers Peter Keate, 81 and Inez Keate, 79 have been identified as the crash victims. The pilot had his future in-laws in the cabin. His wedding would have been June 23. He leaves behind his 11 year old son. Moyes is also survived by his fiancee and her two children. A memorial is scheduled at 2 p.m., May 27, at North Vancouver’s Pinnacle Hotel.

What: PA-32 sight-seeing in Alaska Where: Knik Glacier, about 113km northeast of Anchorage When: Sunday August 8, 2010 1 pm Who: pilot, Donald Erbey, 49 and 4 friends Why: Erbey had taken Texas friends sightseeing in his small family Piper 32. When he realized he was flying into bad weather, he turned to head back, “hit a downdraft” and crashed in a snowbank, leaving them stranded since Sunday on Knik Glacier, Alaska.
Monday evening, highly trained pararescuers—Maj. Jesse Peterson, Master Sgt. Al Lankford, Tech. Sgt. Chris Uriarte and Tech. Sgt. Angel Santana—braved a 4 mile trek to walk in food and supplies. The plane’s locator beacon was operable.
Helicopters with additional supplies and support are in the area but weather conditions have not permitted drops or a rescue. They have adequate resources to wait till weather clears enough for helicopters to land as hiking out is a last resort.

A privately owned Cessna 210 flew from Culiacan to La Noria; then an hour after leaving La Noria, the Cessna crashed in Sinaloa Mexico in a field and burst into flames.
Pilot Aaron Meza Martin del Campo, 21, and co-pilot Fortunato Ramirez Perez, 25 and two unidentified women died in the crash.
The accident is under investigation. THe cause may have been pilot error.
