    FedEx Cargo Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Houston

    FedExA FedEx cargo plane made an emergency landing at George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston, Texas, on the morning of July 1.

    The Fedex Federal Express McDonnell Douglas MD-10 was heading from Memphis, Tennessee to Harlingen, Texas when it was diverted due to cargo smoke indication.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 2 crew members aboard at the time; both of them remained unharmed.

    Inspection team found no evidence of smoke, fire or heat. The plane resumed its journey with a few hours delay.

    Lufthansa Flight Returns to Boston due to Hydraulic Failure

    Lufthansa flight LH-425 had to make an emergency landing in Boston, Massachusetts, on March 6th.

    The Airbus A350-900 plane took off for Munich, Germany, but had to turn back due to a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed uneventfully and was towed to the apron.

    All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Jet Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Lucknow

    Jet AirwaysJet Airways flight 2828 made an emergency landing at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport in Lucknow, India, on April 27th.

    Authorities said the plane, flying from Dehradun, Uttarakhand, had reached its scheduled destination in New Delhi on time but the ATC advised the pilots to divert to Lucknow due to poor weather conditions. Shortly before reaching the airport in Lucknow, the pilots received low fuel indication and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Andes Lineas Aereas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Argentina

    Andes Lineas Aereas flight OY-641 made an emergency landing in Cordoba, Argentina, on January 27th.

    The plane flying from Florianopolis, Brazil, was descending toward Cordoba when the crew noticed dropping oil pressure and decided to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Small Planes Crash into Each Other in Georgia; 3 Killed

    Two single-engine planes collided with each other and crashed at West Georgia Regional Airport, Carrollton, Carroll County, Georgia, on September 7th.

    According to sources, the two planes apparently tried to land simultaneously that resulted in the fatal crash.

    All 3 people aboard both the planes were killed in the crash.

    The crash remains under investigation.

    What: Aero Contractors Boeing 737-500 en route from Port Harcourt to Lagos
    Where: Nigeria
    When: Oct 24 2010
    Who: 84 passengers, 15 injuries
    Why: Passengers were complaining of pressure problems resulting in ear pain. Passengers reportedly “ran amuck” in the cabin when they saw smoke, apparently resulting in injury.

    Officially, ten minutes before arrival in Lagos, a smoke problem in the cabin was reported to ATC. The crew reported the smoke, and made a safe landing at Murtala Muhammed International Airport with emergency on standby at 6:30 pm. Passengers evacuated, resulting in fifteen injuries. Passenger’s luggage was not released until 8:30 pm

    According to maintenance, the smoke problem was mist and condensation from the air conditioning which had been switched to manual.
