Who: George Campbell of Conestogo and 38-year-old Paul Alexander Wilson
Why: The two, both apparently employed by RIM, (Research in Motion, the company that introduced the Blackberry in 1999), were suspended after their drunkenness aboard an Air Canada flight forced pilots to divert to Vancouver. The two alleged drunks were also held responsible in paying Air Canada over &70,000 in hotel fees and restitution for delaying the flight.

The crew initiated an emergency descent and subsequently landed safely. All one hundred and sixty-one passengers and six crew members remained safe.

Why: On approach to Toronto, the pilot entered a holding pattern due to bad weather, but on approach, was alerted to windshear, and made another precautionary go-round due to gusty conditions. They diverted to Ottowa where they made a safe landing. the plane touched down safely shortly after 5 p.m.The plane refueled, and made a safe landing in Toronto at Pearson after 9 pm.
Pilots had declared (and undeclared) a fuel emergency on approach to Ottowa. After landing, the runway was inspected.

Why: While en route, the pilot experienced problems with the left engine and had an indicator light indicating further problems. American Airlines Flight 2542 had to make an emergency landing at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport in Lubbock, Texas, on September 22nd.The plane heading from Ontario, California, to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, was diverted after a passenger started yelling and banging on the cockpit door.
The plane landed safely. The disruptive passenger, identified as 24-year-old Jerry Nguyen, was arrested.
The flight resumed with the remaining 143 people onboard.
