    What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Prague to New York
    Where: Goose Bay
    When: Nov 13th 2009
    Why: While en route, the crew detected smoke in the cockpit. After the flight diverted to Goose Bay, the cause of the smoke was determine to be a fan. After repairs, the flight continued to its destination.

    On November 12, a Fed Ex flight also diverted to Goose bay for smoke in the cockpit.

    Dreamlifter enters Service

    EVERETT, Wash., Feb. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — The fourth Boeing (NYSE: BA) Dreamlifter – the final airplane in the fleet of specially modified 747-400s – entered service today. Dreamlifters transport the large composite structures of the 787 Dreamliner from partners around the world to Everett, Wash. for final assembly. The unique airplane, which was modified by Evergreen Aviation Technologies Corp. in Taipei, Taiwan, took off from Paine Field in Everett early this morning. Bound for Wichita, Kan., the Dreamlifter is returning the equipment used to transport the forward fuselage section known as section 41. The airplane’s registry is N718BA.

    Air Astana Emergency diversion to Shymkent

    On May 10, 2013, an Air Astana Boeing 757-200 en route from Tashkent to Almaty diverted to Shymkent with cabin pressure problems.

    Oxygen masks deployed when the air conditioning system failed.

    A replacement Airbus was provided to take the 136 passengers to Almaty.

    Colibri Crashes Stormy Mountainside in San Jose de Ocoa

    What: Dominican Consul Eurocopter EC120 Colibri en route from Santo Domingo to San Jose de Ocoa
    Where: San Jose de Ocoa, Dominican Republic
    When: 15-OCT-2009 at 14:55
    Who: 3 aboard, all fatalities
    Why: The Colibri light helicopter took off for Ocoa from the Hotel Santo Domingo‘s heliport at 2:35 p.m. but crashed into a mountain in the south of the country in heavy rain, killing all occupants (the pilot and two passengers: first lieutenant Wilker Diaz, Manuel Checo, Yendi Vásquez)

    The last communication with the pilot was at 2:55 p.m. when he told ATC he had Ocoa in sight.
    The Dominican consul in Haiti, Carlos Castillo—whose helicopter it is—was not aboard.

    UA Flight Diverts to Geneva

    What: United Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Rome to Washington
    Where: Geneva
    When: Dec 23rd 2009
    Who: not available
    Why: After takeoff, the plane developed a hydraulics issue. The flight diverted to Geneva and made a safe landing.

    Piper Crash Lebanon-Springfield

    What: KMT Consultants Piper PA-28-180 Cherokee C en route from St Clair County Airport to Lebanon- Springfield Airport
    Where: west of Lebanon-Springfield Airport
    When: Feb 23 2010
    Who: Pilot Kent Douglas Shilling of Springfield (lost in crash)
    Why: The Piper 28 airplane disappeared from radar about 4 miles west Lebanon Springfield Airport. Kent Douglas Shilling was piloting the plane. Shilling, who owns a flight school, was returning to Kentucky from Alabama. When his arrival in Lebanon-Springfield was overdue, a search ensued. The Emergency Operations Center received a call concerning the crash at 4:10 p.m.

    A state trooper found the wreckage in a wooded area off of Kentucky Highway 55 thirty minutes after the flight disappeared from radar.
