Dash 8 Has Gusty Landing Ending in Crunch

What: Flugfelag Air Iceland de Havilland Dash 8-100 en route from Reykjavik Iceland to Nuuk Greenland
Where: Nuuk
When: Mar 4th 2011
Who: 31 passengers and 3 crew
Why: After weather conditions had already delayed the flight for more than a day, passengers were finally able to make the journey. However, on landing, the plane veered off the runway in gusty conditions. The de Havilland Dash received nose, propellers and engines damage, but no one aboard was injured.

Perhaps they should have delayed the flight for another day.

    Who: 3 aboard
    Why: The small plane crashed after taking off from Dallesport Washington. The wreckage was found near Ukiah in a remote area set in the mountains. The forest service cut a road into the area to make it accessible. According to reports, two bodies were found; the third was missing but also declared a fatality.

    Platberg MTN: Beechcraft Crash, Harrismith South Africa

    What: Beech Bonanza en route from Vereeniging to Margate
    Where: Harrismith South Africa
    When: Dec 28 2009
    Who: 4 passengers aboard, believed to be a family
    Why: The flight was en route to margate but diverted to Harrismith due to technical problems. ATC lost contact with the plane during bad weather.

    The plane crashed into a remote, inaccessible section of Platberg Mountain during heavy fog. The wreckage was located by another plane.

    All 4 aboard the flight were fatalities, and believed to be a family group.

    Turbulence Over Burlington Injures Jetblue Flight Attendants

    What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from New York to Burlington,VT
    Where: Burlington
    When: Feb 19th 2011
    Who: 2 injured
    Why: On approach to Burlington, the plane encountered severe turbulence, which injured two flight attendants. The pilot continued, to make a safe landing in Burlington. Both attendants were hospitalized, one with bruises, and one with broken ribs.

    Saratov Airlines Plane Crashes near Moscow; 71 Dead

    Saratov Airlines flight 6W-703 crashed in Ramenskoye district of Russia, on February 11th.

    The plane was heading from Moscow Domodedovo Airport to Orsk, Russia, when it went down in an open field in the Ramenskoye district on the outskirts of Moscow.

    There were sixty-five passengers and six crew members aboard at the time; all of them were killed in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Small Plane Crashed in Colorado Mountains; 5 Killed

    mountainA twin-engine plane crashed in San Juan Mountains, in the north of Silverton, Colorado, at around 4:15 P.M on September 6.

    The immediate cause of Cessna 310 crash is not yet known.

    At least 5 people lost their lives in the crash.

    San Juan County Sheriff’s office and NTSB are investigating.

    Helicopter Crashes in Nepal; 7 Killed

    Fishtail AirA Fishtail Air helicopter crashed at Bhatine Danda in Nuwakot district of Nepal, on August 8th.

    The helicopter went down while it was transporting a five-year-old girl to Kathmandu for medical treatment.

    There were seven people aboard at the time, including the baby and her family members; all of them were killed in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
