    Cessna Crash Lands on Pompano Beach Street, Pilots Walk Away

    What: ATA Flight School Cessna
    Where: Pompano Beach Air Park
    When: November 1, 2011 reported at 5:52 pm
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 survivors
    Why: A 27 year old instructor Vincent Paul Citrullo and 42 year old student pilot David Bakalar survived a crash at the intersection of Northeast 10th Street and Fifth Avenue in Pompano Beach Florida.

    The crash occurred during a ATA Flight School (Pembroke Pines) training flight while the student pilot was flying and losing altitude due to engine trouble. The instructor took the controls, and the plane struck a palm tree and a concrete pole, landing shy of Pompano Beach Air Park. Both were taken to North Broward Medical Center.

    Two fire trucks used foam on spilled fuel.

    Pilot Vincent Paul Citrullo, a former C130 crew chief and vet, is credited with landing the plane after the throttle became inoperable, and securing their survival, in spite of the plane breaking in half.

    Light Aircraft Crashes in South West England; 3 Injured

    A light aircraft crashed near a farm on Wyke Oliver Road, Weymouth, Dorset, South West England, on the noon of August 5th.

    According to sources, the plane was carrying 2 adults and a child at the time.

    All 3 people onboard sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.

    The injured were taken to hospital.

    The crash remains under investigation.

    New South Wales Crash on Christmas Day


    What: single-engine Cessna en route from Mudgee to rural NSW
    Where: west of Merriwa in the Great Dividing Range, New South Wales
    When: Dec 25
    Who: pilot Scott Kennedy-Green and brother-in-law, Matthew Green. Green died at the scene. The pilot survived and was winched to safety at 1 pm, with chest and pelvic injuries, and leg fractures. He is recuperating at Sydney’s Westmead Hospital.
    Why: The pilot lost control in heavy cloudcover and rain, and crashed in a ravine in the upper Hunter Valley

    The piliot set crash site co-ordinates by CB radio but had to spend the night out in the elements as conditions prevented his recovery until 1 pm the next day.

    The wreck was located at 10 in the morning Dec 26th, lying upside down with a wing torn off

    Plane Crash Investigation Reveals Cause

    On April 29, we reported the National Air Cargo flight that crashed when it’s load shifted and the plane stalled. Federal investigators and Boeing experts went to Afghanistan to to assist in the investigation.

    On Jun 2nd 2013, the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation of Afghanistan investigation announced officially that it was the weight of three armored vehicles and two mine sweepers 80 tons––of shifting cargo that caused the plane to crash.

    The wiring in the back of the plane was cut by impact with the cargo, leaving the pilots helpless to control the plane.

    There were no survivors.

    Bodies Recovered 5 Days After Ridgeway Reservoir Plane Crash

    Ridgeway reservoirSearch teams have finally recovered the bodies of 5 persons who were on board while their single engine plane crashed in the Ridgeway Reservoir Colorado on March 22nd.

    The Socata TBM700 crash happened on March 22 when the plane was en route to Montrose regional airport.

    The victims have been identifies as Jimmy Hill, 48; Katrina Barksdale, 40; Seth McDuffie, 14; 11 year old Kobe and 8 year old Xander. All the victims were from Gadsden, Alabama.

    The plane wreckage was found upside down buried in silt, 60 feet below water level.

    The cause of the crash is still unknown.

    Small Plane Crashes in Maryland; 2 Dead

    A small plane crashed in Carroll County, Maryland, on August 18th.

    Authorities said the wreckage was found in an open field near Baugher Road in Westminster.

    There were two people aboard at the time; both were killed in the crash. They were later identified as the pilot Michael Kilpatrick, 62, and his passenger Robert Johnson, 56.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.
