    3 Killed, 1 Injured in Alaska Plane Crash

    A Cessna 206 plane crashed on Admiralty Island, Alaska, on April 8th.

    The commuter airplane, owned by Sunrise Aviation based in Wrangell, Alaska, was carrying four people when it went down near Angoon village.

    Three people were killed in the crash while the fourth one survived. She was airlifted to a hospital in Juneau.

    The crash is under investigation.

    Pilot Killed in Plane Crash in Brown County, NE

    A 10-seater plane crashed in Brown County, Nebraska, on September 23rd.

    Authorities said the plane had taken off from Ainsworth Regional Airport and was heading to North Dakota when it went down.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, was killed in the crash.

    The cause of crash is being investigated.

    Tara Field Georgia: Flight Crashes on National Aerotech Maintenance Flight


    What: Desert Sand Aircraft Leasing de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter 100
    Where: SW of Clayton County Airport-Tara Field, GA
    When: 08 MAR 2011
    Who: 2 fatalities
    Why: The Desert Sand Aircraft Leasing flight piloted by 37-year-old Bryan Hedrick crashed at 11:45 am on March 8, 2011 on a post maintenance flight run. The maintenance was done by National Aerotech Aviation, and the maintenance flight was headed toward Tara Field when the plane went down for an unknown reason, and landed upside down, with the tail leaning on a tree, the right wing off and twisted, and the left wing folded back.

    Both the pilot and passenger Oriel Roberts died in the crash.

    Oklahoma Medevac Crash

    What: EagleMed LLC Eurocopter A-Star 350 helicopter en route from Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City to a hospital about 90 miles away in Okeene
    Where: 50 miles northwest of Oklahoma City
    When: July 22 2010
    Who: Pilot Al Harrison, 56, of Edmond, and nurse Ryan Duke, 35, of Oklahoma City, died in the crash
    Why: While en route to pick up a patient, the helicopter crashed in a field near Kingfisher shortly after 7:30 p.m. The pilot and a nurse died in the crash; a paramedic sustained serious injuries.

    A source reported that the crew was having trouble with a door on the helicopter, and a piece flew off and hit the rotor shortly before the crash, but that information is unconfirmed.

    Alice Australia: Qantas Lightning Strike

    What: Qantaslink Boeing 717-200 en route from Alice Springs to Darwin
    Where: Alice Springs
    When: Nov 16th 2010, 2:10 pm
    Who:115 passengers
    Why: Just after takeoff, the plane was struck by lightning. The plane returned to Alice Springs and made a safe landing. Operations were unaffected but here was minor damage to the plane’s exterior. Passengers were scheduled on an alternative flight with a six hour delay.

    Qantas Engine Flames Out on Runway

    What: Qantas Boeing 747-400 en route from Sydney to Los Angeles
    Where: Sydney
    When: Jan 15th 2011
    Who: 344 passengers
    Why: On the runway for takeoff, a left engine made a banging noise and shot flames. The pilots were able to stop the jet on the runway, and the plane was towed and inspected. Passengers were provided an alternative flight 4 and a half hours later.
