    Srilankan airlinesSriLankan Airlines flight UL-891 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangkok, Thailand, on April 7th.

    The plane took off for Colombo, Sri Lanka, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cabin.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Air New Zealand Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Auckland

    Air New ZealandAir New Zealand flight NZ-9 had to make an emergency landing in Auckland, New Zealand, on September 10th.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane was flying from Honolulu, Hawaii, when the crew received a flat tire indication and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. All 286 passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    ANA Wings Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Japan

    ANA Wings flight NH-1822 had to make an emergency landing in Nagoya, Japan, on April 25th.

    The plane flying from Matsuyama, Japan, was descending toward Nagoya when the crew entered a hold reporting a hydraulic failure.

    The plane subsequently landed safely and was towed to the apron.

    There were 57 passengers and 4 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Hawaii-bound United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Los Angeles

    United Ailrines BoeingUnited Airlines flight 1296 en route from Los Angeles to Hawaii had to return and make an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport on May 10 due to the smell of smoke in the cabin and cockpit.

    The Boeing 757, with 149 passengers on board was flying over the Pacific Ocean when the odor was noticed in the plane.

    The plane made an uneventful emergency landing at 11:38 am. None of the passengers or crew members were injured.

    Maintenance crews are examining the plane.

    Some passengers said they experienced the scariest moments of their lives when they were told to keep their oxygen masks and life vests on. One of the passengers, Rebecca Elder said that the smoke was coming from both sides of the plane. She further said “We looked around the other passengers, everybody was very calm and really nice and helped each other out.”

    Who: 152 passengers and 8 crew
    Why: After takeoff from Novosibirsk, the plane’s right engine ingested a hawk.

    The pilot burned off fuel and made a safe landing three hours later with engine vibration.
