    JetBlue Flight Returns to Buffalo After Bird Strike

    JetBlue flight B6-2216 made an emergency landing in Buffalo, New York, on May 24th.

    The plane took off for Boston, Massachusetts, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All sixty people aboard remained safe.

    Austrian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Istanbul

    Austrian Airlines flight OS-26 made an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on February 6th.

    The Boeing 777-200 plane heading from Bangkok, Thailand, to Vienna, Austria, was diverted after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Flybe Flight Makes Emergency Landing after Engine Shut Down

    flybeFlybe flight BE6938 was forced to return and make an emergency landing in Kirkwall, Scotland, on September 24.

    The Saab 340 turboprop jet, operated by Loganair, had to be diverted after the crew shut down its left engine due to a warning indication. The flight was en-route to Inverness, Scotland at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 32 people aboard remained unharmed.

    A replacement aircraft was arranged for the passengers.

    Southwest Boeing Diverts to Cleveland

    What: Southwest Airline Boeing 737-500 en route from Chicago to Providence
    Where: Hopkins International Airport
    When: July 5, 2010
    Why: While en route, the plane developed hydraulic problems and had to make a cautionary landing in Cleveland. The plane made a safe landing, with no injuries. The plane taxied to the gate, but there was no indication of the allocation of the passengers–whether they were provided alternative transportation or accommodated at a local hotel.

    Japan Transocean Air Plane Returns to Japan after Cracked Windshield

    Japan Transocean Air flight NU-44 had to return and make an emergency landing at Naha Airport, Okinawa, Japan, on May 6th.

    The Boeing 737-400 flying to Nagoya, Japan, had to return after the first officer’s windshield cracked.

    The plane landed safely.

    All 148 passengers and 5 crew members remained safe.
