What: Bolivian owned Sabreliner en route from La Paz to the southern city of Sucre
Where: Jorge Wilstermann International Airport of Cochabamba
When: Dec 23. 2009
Who: Bolivian President Evo Moarales
Why: The plane made an unscheduled landing in Cochabamba in central Bolivia due to a failure in the hydraulics system. The 30 year old plane is planned to be replaced in 2011 by a $30 million dollar Russian Antonov BJ.

Allegiant Air Plane Rejects Take Off from St. Petersburg, FL

Allegiant Air flight G4-890 had to reject take off from St. Petersburg, Florida, on March 4th.

The plane was accelerating to take off for Fort Wayne, Indiana, when the crew rejected take off due to a maintenance issue.

All passengers and crew members remained safe.

The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

Delta from Atlanta-Emergency Exit after Engine FIre

What: Delta Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Atlanta to Los Angeles
Where: Atlanta
When: Jun 21st 2011
Who: 174 passengers
Why: Taking off out of Atlanta, the left hand engine indicated fire.

The engine was shut down, and pilots made a landing back in Atlanta, ten minutes after takeoff. Passengers exited via emergency slides, resulting in three injuries.

External examination of the engine reveals charring, and results of a fire inside the cowl.

Airbus Flap Failure

What: Lufthansa Airbus A340-600 en route from San Francisco,CA to Munich Germany
Where: Munich
When: May 29th 2009
Who: 277 passengers
Why: When landing flaps failed, the Airbus prepared for an emergency landing. Fortunately, though the plane landed too fast, there was no serious consequence to the flap failure. Reportedly the plane was repaired and returned to service hours later.

American Airlines Lands over Fuel Pump Issues

What: American Airlines McDonnell Douglas MD-83 en route from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Pittsburgh,PA
Where: near Dallas
When: Nov 19th 2011
Why: Just after take-off, the pilot switched the fuel supply from center fuel tank to main wing tanks and the right engine flamed out.

Pilots returned to the airport and made a safe landing.

Maintenance is investigating why operating pumps were working, yet failing to provide fuel to the right engine.

Manaus Storm Forces TAF Flight to Divert

What: TAF Linhas Aereas Boeing 727-20 en route from Sao Paulo to Manaus Brazil
Where: Parintins
When: Dec 17th 2009
Who: crew
Why: After several attempts at landing in stormy, rainy windy conditions at the Manaus airport (including flying through tree branches and damaging the leading edge of the right wing, the flight diverted 200 miles east to Parintins where it made a safe landing.

Turbulence Injures Jetblue Flight Attendant.

What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from New York to Fort Lauderdale
Where: Fort Lauderdale
When: Feb 24 2010
Who: 1 injury
Why: While en route, the plane encountered turbulence severe enough to injure a flight attendant. On landing at Fort Lauderdale, the flight attendant was hospitalized.
