    What: Continental Express flight from Knoxville to Houston
    Where: Jackson- Evers International Airport

    Who: 52 aboard
    Why: The flight was en route to Houston when it developed problems including smoke in the cockpit.

    The crew heard an audible pop when they began smelling (but not seeing) smoke. The pilots diverted to Jackson- Evers International Airport and made a safe landing. Emergency services were on standby during the landing. THere were no reported injuries.

    Repairs were made to the plane and the flight resumed by 12:30 pm.

    Miami-Dade Police Department Chopper Makes Emergency Landing

    chopperA Police helicopter made an emergency landing near Miami Seaquarium in Key Biscayne, Florida, on September 15.

    According to Miami-Dade Police Department, the pilot requested an emergency landing after he noticed some mechanical issues in the aircraft.

    The helicopter landed safely.

    The pilot, who was the only one aboard, remained unhurt.

    British Airways Stormed by Middle Aged Drunk Women


    Two drunk women caused a British Airways flight Gatwick to Tunis flight to divert to Lyon. At 30,000 feet, the women smoked in the bathroom, and exhibited disruptive behavior, refusing to sit, attempting to get into the cockpit, and threatening to “track down and kill” the family of a BA stewardess.

    They were arrested in Lyon, where gendarmes tossed them in the drunk tank overnight, and sent them back.

    British Airways may ban them from flying BA flights.

    Emirates Flight Diverts to Turkey due to Smoke in Cockpit

    EmiratesEmirates flight EK-35 made an emergency landing in Trabzon, Turkey, on February 4th.

    The Boeing 777-300, heading from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Newcastle, United Kingdom, was diverted after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All the passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Where: just off a runway at Fresno’s Chandler Airport. When:
    Why: The copter was following a hit and run suspect when the oil light on the instrument panel came on. No injuries.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Pennsylvania

    United Airlines flight UA-5387 made an emergency landing at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport, Pennsylvania, on November 15th.

    The plane flying from Chicago, Illinois, was on final approach to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport when the crew received an unsafe gear indication and went around.

    The plane subsequently landed safely on second approach. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
