    What: Flybe de Havilland Dash 8-400, en route from Belfast City to Glasgow
    Where: Belfast
    When: Mar 25 2010, 7: 35 am
    Who: 61 passengers, 4 crew
    Why: After takeoff, witnesses detected “smoke billowing from the engine”. The flight returned to make a safe landing in Belfast where the return was attributed to a “technical problem.” Emergency crews were on standby. There were no injuries.

    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Orlando

    American Airlines flight AA-1868 had to make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, on January 2nd.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane was flying from Charlotte, North Carolina, when a strange odor on-board gave headaches to 7 crew members.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. The crew members were taken to hospital.

    All 89 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    Cebu Pacific’s ATR Emergency Landing in Philippines


    What: Cebu Pacific Flight 5J 893 ATR-72-500 propeller-plane, bound for Caticlan, Aklan
    Where: NAIA 1’s Runway 06 Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila
    When: 7:21 am Wednesday morning
    Who: 53 passengers and four crew w
    Why: the pilot reported a problem in the right engine. Alarm lights in the instrument panel were blinking. The carrier provided flight vouchers for Caticlan via Kalibo. The passengers were bound for Caticlan, gateway airport of the country’s most popular tourist destination Boracay island. The carrier stated officially that “The engine of the 11-month-old ATR 72-500 aircraft will be checked by an international maintenance crew from Cebu Pacific”

    Singapore Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in India after Hydraulic Leakage

    Singapore Airlines flight SQ-516 made an emergency landing at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata, India, on May 5th.

    The Airbus A330-200 flying from Singapore was about to land when the crew noticed hydraulic leakage and declared an emergency.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    What: Swiss International Airlines Airbus A321 en route from Zurich to London
    Where: Zurich
    When: Oct 31st 2010
    Who: 194 passengers
    Why: After takeoff, the plane suffered a bird strike.

    The pilot returned to Zurich where they made a safe landing. The plane was taken out of service to be inspected for damage, and passengers were provided alternative transportation. No description of the amount of damage or the unfortunate bird has been provided.
