    Delta Airlines Flight Returns to Detroit Due to Engine Fire Indication

    Delta Airlines flight DL-950 had to return and make an emergency landing in Detroit, Michigan, on August 6th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane took off for LaGuardia Airport, New York, but had to turn back due to an engine fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and thirty-two people aboard remained unharmed.

    Allegiant Air Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Utah

    AllegiantAllegiant Air flight 487 had to make an emergency landing in St. George, Utah, on September 7.

    According to the airline, the plane, heading from Bismarck, North Dakota, to Las Vegas, Nevada, had to be diverted due to a “possible maintenance issue”.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 141 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

    First Officer Passes Out Midair; EL AL Flight 289 makes Emergency Landing in Croatia

    EL ALEL AL flight 289, en route from Tel Aviv to Venice, had to make an emergency landing in Dubrovnik, Croatia, after its first officer fell ill mid air.

    The plane departed from Tel Aviv at around 6 a.m. on May 15. After about 2 hours, the first officer went to use the bathroom and upon returning, told the captain that he was not feeling well. The captain informed the first flight attendant, and was searching for the nearby airports to make an emergency landing, when the first officer passed out. A doctor who was on board among the passengers gave him medical treatment during the flight.

    The captain successfully made a safe emergency landing in Dubrovnik, where the first officer was taken to a hospital.

    The airline later issued a statement confirming the incident.

    “El Al flight 289 from Tel Aviv to Venice, with 98 passengers on board, landed in Dubrovnik after the first officer fell ill during the flight and was unable to fulfil his duties,” maintained the airline.

    EasyJet Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Edinburgh Airport

    EasyJet flight EZY-1805 made an emergency landing at Edinburgh Airport, Scotland, on January 28th.

    The plane heading from Manchester, England, to Keflavik, Iceland, was diverted due to a disruptive passenger.

    The plane landed uneventfully. The police escorted the unruly passenger out of the plane.

    Gol Linhas Aereas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Brazil

    Gol Linhas Aereas flight G3-9126 had to return and make an emergency landing in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, on July 9th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Fortaleza, Brazil, but had to turn back after sudden aircraft movements injured two flight attendants.

    The plane landed safely.

    Windhoek Nambia: SAX Emergency Landing

    What: South African Express Airways Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Cape Town to Windhoek
    Where: Windhoek Namibia
    When: April 17 2010
    Why: The SAX CRJ landed with a hung nose wheel. (belly landing?) After landing with nose gear up, there were no injuries although airport operations were disrupted.
