    Azul Linhas Aereas Plane Returns to Brazil after Vulture Strike

    Azul Linhas Aereas flight had to return and make an emergency landing at Viracopos International Airport, São Paulo, Brazil, on May 4th.

    The Embraer ERJ-195, flying to Brasilia, Brazil, had to return after a vulture hit the captain’s windshield.

    The aircraft received substantial damage.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers after 1:45 hour delay.

    EasyJet Flight Returns to Copenhagen due to Bird Strike

    EasyJet flight U2-1986 had to return and make an emergency landing in Copenhagen, Denmark, on June 13th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Manchester, England, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Rio Negro Crash: Investigation Begins

    Argentine Aviators Union of Air Lines said that the investigation into the Rio Negro crash will take 3 months.

    After departing from Neuquén at 20:08, the pilot sent out a distress call declaring an emergency. 19 passengers and 3 crew were aboard.

    Locals saw a ball of fire fall from the sky 35 kilometers from the town of Los Menucos in an area not available to cell phone usage. Rescue units (three ambulances and civil defense team including the police force of Black River (Rio Negro), Sierra Colorado, General Roca and Los Menucos) were deployed but there were no survivors.

    Saab officials will be participating in the investigation. But three months till the investigation is done? I don’t think so. Maybe three years.

    Delta Airlines Flight Suffers Bird Strike Near Salt Lake City Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-527 suffered a bird strike near Salt Lake City International Airport, Utah, on October 14th.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane was heading to Reno, Nevada.

    The plane continued its journey and landed safely in Reno.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Swiss International Airlines Flight Returns to Geneva After Bird Strike

    Swiss International Airlines flight LX-354 had to return and make an emergency landing in Geneva, Switzerland, on October 15th.

    The plane took off for Heathrow Airport, England, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and twenty people aboard remained unharmed.

    Sydney Birdstrike

    On June 21, 2013, a Business Aviation Solutions Citation was en route to Sydney when it made an emergency landing after a birdstrike. One engine was damaged.

    The plane took off at 5 am, suffered the bird strike and had to make an emergency landing returning to Coolangatta. There were two crew aboard and no passengers, and no injuries.
