    Compass Airlines Plane Returns to Washington due to Hissing Noise

    compassCompass Airlines flight DL-5749 had to return and make a safe emergency landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, Washington, on December 10.

    The Embraer ERJ-175, heading to San Diego, California, had to return due to a hissing noise coming from one of its doors.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    No injuries were reported.

    Bird-Hit TAAG Angola Airlines Plane Makes Safe Landing in Angola

    TAAG Angola Airlines flight DT-443 made a safe landing following multiple bird strikes near Catumbela, Angola, on May 14th.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Luanda, Angola, was on approach to Catumbela when it sustained multiple bird strikes to one of the engines.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Piper Emergency Landing at Mangalore Australia


    On January 7, 2013, on a training flight, a Piper Cherokee VH-JXR with only the pilot aboard took off. He noticed a problem with flying the plane and did a flyby over the airport where his instructor discovered visually that the plane had lost a right rear wheel during takeoff from Mangalore Airport Australia.

    The pilot circled to burn fuel, and talked with his instructor and emergency teams. He landed the plane safely on two wheels.

    The 21 year old Chinese pilot trainee made a safe landing with emergency crews on standby. The pilot had 120 hours of flight experience. English is his second language.

    LIAT Emergency Landing in Antigua

    What: LIAT flight 544 de Haviland Dash 8 -311 en route from Nevis (leaving at 5:30pm) to RLB International Airport, St. Kitts
    Where: emergency stop in Antigua
    When: Wednesday night (Nov. 12)
    Who: 42 passengers
    Why: The control panel indicated problems, so that the plane diverted to Antigua. (The landing gear was activated but the control panel said otherwise.) The flight landed at 7:00 after circling for some time.

    Polish Airlines Plane Returns to Poland due to Air Conditioning Issue

    LOT Polish AirlinesLOT Polish Airlines flight LO-3944 had to return and make an emergency landing at Poznan-Lawica Henryk Wieniawski Airport, Poznan, Poland, on December 31.

    The De Havilland Dash 8-400, flying from Poznan, to Warsaw, Poland, was mid-air when it encountered some problem with its air conditioning systems, causing it to return.

    The plane landed safely.

    All passengers on board remained safe.

    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Flaps Problem

    United Airlines flight UA-962 made an emergency landing at Berlin Tegel Airport, Germany, on January 8th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane flying from Newark, New Jersey, was on approach to Berlin when the crew reported an issue with the flaps.

    The plane subsequently made a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
