    NTSB Investigating October Turbulence Incident

    The incident 35,000 feet above Norfolk where an AirTran Airways Boeing 717 maneuvered to avoid another aircraft on Oct. 26, and a passenger and flight attendant were both injured by turbulence is currently being investigated by the NTSB.

    The FAA does not know if the sharp loss of altitude is related to the collision avoidance maneuver or turbulence. The incident is not being called a close call.

    Two Injured in Westjet Turbulence

    What: Westjet Boeing 737 en route from Toronto to Victoria
    Where: Victoria
    When: May 20, 2011
    Who: 116 passengers and six crew
    Why: While en route, the flight encountered turbulence, injuring a flight attendant, who was bruised, and a passenger who injured an ankle. Injuries tend to occur when a passenger takes off their seat belt, or a flight attendant is up performing duties when the turbulence strikes.

    The injuries suffered aboard the Westjet flight are not serious.

    Small Plane Crashed in Alberta; Pilot Killed

    A small plane crashed in an open area in 37 Cottonwood Drive, Blackfalds, Alberta, on the afternoon of October 6th.

    The Steen Skybolt, an aerobatic biplane, presumably crashed due to engine problem.

    The pilot, who was the only person onboard, was killed in the crash.

    The crash remains under investigation.

    All Nippon Airways Flight Returns to Kuala Lumpur

    All Nippon Airways flight NH-816 had to return and make an emergency landing in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on February 22nd.

    The Boeing 787-800 took off for Tokyo Narita Airport, Japan, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an indication that the temperature of exhaust gas from its right hand engine was very high.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 203 passengers and 11 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Swiss International Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich

    Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-1416 had to return and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on March 4th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Belgrade, Serbia, but had to turn back after the crew reported a loud bang on the right-hand side.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Jetstar Asia Airways Flight Returns to Singapore

    Jetstar Asia Airways flight 3K-535 had to return and make an emergency landing in Singapore, on January 22nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Phuket, Thailand, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew noticed a ventilation issue.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
