    Medical Helicopter Emergency Landing Takes out Windshield

    A medical evacuation helicopter, ADAC-Luftrettung Eurocopter EC 135 P2 was making a street landing in Germany when it struck a car.

    The tail of the chopper struck an Opel Corsa’s window. The car was parked in a parking lot at the Ochsenfurt train station.

    No people were injured.

    The pilot and the on board doctor noticed the damaged windshield after landing. Damage to the vehicle is estimated at 2000 euros.

    There appears to be insignificant damage to the helicopter but it is slated for inspection of the right stabilizing fin on the tail boom.

    Thai Helicopter Crash Kills 5

    What: Thai Eurocopter AS 350 helicopter en route from Phitsanulok province to take the officials to the inauguration of a river basin development project
    Where: remote area of jungle in Na Muen district of Nan province northern Thailand
    When: August 18 2010
    Who: 5 passengers including Permanent Secretary for natural resources and environment Saksit Tridech, inspector-general of the National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department and a senior adviser to the Royal Household Bureau. The pilot who worked for the Natural Resources and Environment Ministry was Major Jenwit Arunsawat. Sergeant Withoon Thienngern, who was the machinist, also aboard.
    Why: While flying over a remote jungle in stormy weather, the helicopter disappeared from radar. The search involved 350 rangers, soldiers, forestry officials, village headmen and villagers. Ground search of 17 separate search parties led by local guides and four search helicopters were utilized to find the wreckage which was located Wednesday, three kilometers from the closest settlement. The helicopter crashed into a mountainside at 1,500 meters. There was no fire.

    Wednesday, rescue teams encountered steep terrain, making the recovery of the remains difficult but the five bodies were recovered.

    Funeral services will be at Wat Phra Si Maha That in Bangkok.

    CSA First Officer Lands Alone after Captain Succumbs

    What: CSA Czech Airlines Avion de Transport Regional ATR-42-500 en route from Warsaw to Prague
    Where: Prague
    When: Feb 15th 2012
    Who: 1 fatality
    Why: After a normal flight, on approach to Prague, the first officer informed ATC that the captain was incapacitated. The f.o. landed the plane.

    Emergency services responded, but the captain was pronounced dead. He as 58 years old.

    Bulgaria Air Cockpit Window Cracks

    What: Bulgaria Air Boeing 737-300 en route from Varna Bulgaria to Moscow
    Where: Varna Bulgaria
    When: Sep 6th 2009
    Who: 106 passengers
    Why: Just after takeoff, the cockpit window cracked. The plane landed safely back at the airport about an hour after takeoff, at 4:30 pm. Passengers were provided an alternative flight.

    Cabin Fumes Diverts Airbus to Daytona

    What: Spirit Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from Chicago to Ft Lauderdale
    Where: Daytona Beach
    When: July 1 2009
    Who: 143 on board
    Why: When a burning smell filled the cockpit, the plane diverted to Daytona Beach. Passengers debarked normally; some individuals who experienced shortness of breath were taken to Halifax Medical Center.

    Passengers stated that the smoke was not visible but it made their eyes water, and smelled like rotten eggs.

    Jet2 Flight Bursts Two Tires on Landing at Tenerife South Airport

    Jet2 flight LS-917 burst two tires on landing at Tenerife South Airport, Spain, on June 27th.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A330-200 plane was coming from Manchester, England.

    There were three hundred and twenty passengers and eleven crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.
