    Bird-Hit Indigo Airlines Flight Returns to Raipur, India

    Indigo Airlines flight 6E-252 made an emergency landing in Raipur, India, on April 9th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Kolkata, India, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Jaw-Breaking Cessna Crash on Okinawa

    What: four-seater Cessna 172
    Where: sugarcane field in Nago on the southern Japanese island of Okinawa
    When: Friday,
    Who: The pilot–a 45-year-old airman from Kadena Air Base–broke his jaw. The three others aboard were rescued without injuries.
    Why: The plane ran low on fuel while while returning to base.

    The plane cracked its nose cone and caught fire as soon as it hit the ground. It also hit a power line on descent and caused a power outage.

    What: JAL Japan Airlines Boeing 777-300 en route from Okinawa to Osaka
    Where: Okinawa
    When: Jan 26 2010
    Who: 332 passengers
    Why: After takeoff, the left engine developed issues, reportedly leaving a smoke trail. Within twenty minutes the crew had landed the plane back in Okinawa. No injuries were reported, although there may have been an engine fire witnessed from the ground.

    What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Alghero to Parma
    Where: Alghero
    When: Dec 18th 2009
    Who: 80 passengers
    Why: On takeoff, the plane suffered a bird-strike. The flight returned to the airport and made a safe landing. Passengers debarked and were provided an alternative jet two hours later.

    Eurowings Flight Rejects Takeoff After Bird Strike

    Eurowings flight EW-79 had to reject takeoff from Leipzig, Germany, on October 17th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Cologne, Germany, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a bird strike.

    The plane stopped on the runway and was towed to the apron. Everyone aboard remained uninjured.

    LATAM Chile Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Rio de Janeiro

    LATAM Chile flight JJ-8154 made an emergency landing at Galeao International Airport in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on January 26th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Orlando, Florida, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
