Why: On takeoff, the plane blew a “front” tire. However, the flight continued to Las Vegas as scheduled. They landed with emergency crews on standby, and after landing taxied to the edge of the runway. The tire was repaired, and the plane continued to the gate, where passengers disembarked.

Allegiant Flight Returns to Lansing Airport due to Compression Issues
Allegiant Air Flight 657, had to return and make an emergency landing at Capital Region International Airport in Lansing, Michigan, on August 7.The Boeing MD-80 aircraft, carrying 166 passengers, took off for Orlando’s Sanford International Airport at about 11:42 a.m. However, immediately after taking off, a compression problem was discovered.
The plane was then turned back towards Lansing where it made a safe emergency landing at about 11:58 a.m. Airport spokeswoman Nicole Noll-Williams said, “Because it was a compression issue, it was a normal response for our public safety department to be prepared for an emergency landing.”
The passengers were safely evacuated and the aircraft was taken for maintenance.

Why: A witness said, “It was mushing through the air…it was chugging along with what seemed like one engine. Then I heard a roar of engine and all of a sudden, woop, dead silence.”The deceased have been identified as 4 members of a Korean family.
Pakistan International Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing in Multan
Pakistan International Airlines flight PK-681 made an emergency landing at Multan International Airport, Punjab, Pakistan, on May 30.According to Civil Aviation authorities, the plane, en-route from Islamabad to Multan, had to declare an emergency due to prevailing dust storm of over 115 kilometers per hour and bursting of one of its front tires.
The plane landed safely. None of the passengers and crew members was hurt.

Where: diverted to Greenville-Spartanburg International Aiport for an emergency landing on runway 22.
When: 5 p.m. Thursday.
Who: 146 passengers and crew members
Why: Initially the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit and was diverted to Greenville-Spartanburg. Additionally on landing, one of the right main gear tires blew. Passengers were evacuated onto the taxiway using slides.
