A Cessna 180, which took off from Heber Airpark, hit the trees and crashed into the front yard of a house at 303 Brownville Road in Gansevoort, Northumberland, New York, at about 5:40 pm, on August 2.
The plane had two people aboard when it went upside down in the yard; both of them died at the spot. The police identified them as the pilot, Ciprian M. Ivascu, 33, of Newburgh, and the passenger, Jon C. Stomski, 61, of Milton.
Nancy Rouse, the owner of the house and a witness to deadly crash, said, “I seen the plane hit the top of the trees and then nose-dive into the ground…It was right in my front yard, and I knew they had to be hurt, so I just run and called 911.”
The plane was owned by Saratoga Skydiving Adventures.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating the accident.
