Why: A plane registered to Donald P. Horan of Greensburg was found wrecked south of the airport on Sunday. There were four fatalities associated with the wreckage. The crash was reported by locals who heard the impact at 6:19 p.m on Dec 2.At 6:30, the pilot of the plane was communicating with flight controllers at the Indianapolis International Airport when they lost contact. The FAA called Greensburg.
Greensburg Fire Department, Greensburg Police Department and Decatur County Sheriff’s Department were searching the area. Fog prevented the deployment of a helicopter or an air search but six teams of ground crews made up of six to eight people searched a grid south of the airport on ATVs. The plane was located after 10:30 at night.

Helicopter Crashes in Slovakia’s Vah River
On March 3, 2013, at 17:13 Eurocopter EC-120 Colibri crashed in Horný ?epe?, Sere? district in Slovakia after hitting a cable that was stretched between trees.The helicopter landed in the Váh river.
Three wounded individuals were transported to University Hospital in Trnava where they were treated for hypothermia, head injuries, lacerations and abrasions.
The thirteen year old son of the pilot was trapped in the helicopter and died at the scene.
The injured parties include a twenty-one year old woman and a 42 year old man. They are in stable condition. The pilot is 40 years old. He is being investigated. Alcohol may have been a factor.
Part of the helicopter was retrieved by firemen initially, and the rest recovered later and loaded on to an armed forces flatbed, with the assistance of divers and military technology.
All of those aboard were Slovakian.

The Traumatized Passengers of Mexico-Edmond Sunwing Flight, Waited Hours to Get Customs Clearance
A Puerto Vallarta, Mexico-bound Sunwing Boeing 737-800 en route from Edmonton,Alberta Canada, diverted and made an emergency landing on Sunday March 16, 2014 in Helena Montana after flying through ninety seconds of turbulence.
Two of the six person crew sustained injuries, but none of the 181 passengers were seriously injured, perhaps because the seatbelt lights were on.
Passengers waited hours on the airstrip before a customs agent finally arrived and attended to them. The replacement jet did not arrive for eleven hours.
According to Ron Mercer, Director Helena Regional Airport, the airport has only one customs agent who was not there on Sunday. Another customs agent was called and arrived after a 1.5 hour drive from Great Falls. The airport does not usually host commercial international flights and the customs agent had to “do his homework” and consult international rules before passengers could exit the aircraft.
The situation called for modification in the US customs and immigration department’s emergency protocols, for easing up procedures for those passengers already traumatized due to an emergency situation.
The unexpected delay will no doubt result in consequences because, as CBC News says major Canadian airlines tariff says if “…your flight is delayed more than 90 minutes, you may have the right to get off the plane.”
You can rest assured that after these passengers spent five hours in the plane, someone is going to be paying a hefty fine.

Nepal Airlines Crash Landing in Jomsom
Twenty-one people aboard a Nepal Airlines de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter 300 survived the attempted landing 125 miles NW of Kathmandu.Everyone aboard survived but everyone was injured. Five of the tourists were seriously injured.
On landing at Jomsom airport at 8:30 a.m., the brakes failed, and the plane skidded to the banks of the Kali Gandaki river. The wheel of the plane slipped off the runway and turned right. The front of the plane was wrecked and in the water. The back appears intact.
Eight passengers were Japanese, and on pilgrimage to Muktinath, a sacred Buddhist site at the foot of the Thorong La Himalayan mountain pass.
The rest of those aboard were Nepali.
An investigation is underway. The accident is currently being attributed to brake failure. Jomsom airport is known as one of the most dangerous on earth.

Agricultural Accident-two cropdusters collide
What: Miles Flying Service AT80 AIR TRACTOR AT-802A
Where: Paragould Arkansas

Who: 1 severe injury, 1 fatality
Why: Two agricultural planes, a Beech Grove Grumman G164C and a Miles Flying Service AIR TRACTOR AT-802A collided in midair during an aerial application (crop-dusting) activity. The planes flew from Craighead and Greene county airstrips. One plane was flying S-N, the other was flying E-W. The planes turned into one another at the field’s corner and they impacted ground separated by 300 yards near County Road 322 and Highway 168 in Greene County.One person on the Gurmman was fatally injured; one person on the Air tractor had serious injuries. The accident occurred sixteen miles from Paragould arkansas. A medical helicopter evacuated the injured pilot.
Jetblue Pilot Breakdown over Amarillo Texas, Raw Video, Flight 191
What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from New York to Las Vegas

Who: 1 medical emergency, 135 passengers, six crew
Why: While en route, the pilot of the JetBlue Airbus suffered a panic attack. He was locked out of the cockpit and restrained, and another JetBlue pilot who was aboard assisted the first officer in the cockpit as they diverted to Amarillo and made a safe landing.The pilot had walked to the back of the plane, and when he returned to the cockpit and found he was locked out, he began yelling “Let me in” and raving about a bomb.
After landing in Amarillo, the captain was taken off the plane into an ambulance that sat on the tarmac for thirty minutes before he was taken to an Amarillo hospital.
Jet Blue’s Official Statement
“Flight 191 departed New York’s JFK airport at 7:28 am ET (was scheduled to depart 6:55 am ET). At roughly 10 am CT/11 am ET, the pilot in command elected to divert to Amarillo, TX for a medical situation involving the Captain. Another Captain, traveling off duty, entered the flight deck prior to landing at Amarillo, and took over the duties of the ill crewmember once on the ground. The aircraft arrived Amarillo at 10:11 am CT, and the crewmember was removed from the aircraft and taken to a local medical facility.Customers remain on board at this time. JetBlue is working with local authorities and airport officials for the safe deplaning of the aircraft and will send a new aircraft to continue the flight to LAS.”
