What: Iran Air Airbus A300-600 en route from Tehran to Stockholm
Where: Istanbul
When: Aug 26th 2010
Who: 236 aboard
Why: While en route, the plane developed engine trouble. The crew had to shut down an engine, and divert to Istanbul. The flight made a safe landing.
No indication is made of passenger accommodations or if another plane was flown in.

What: Emirates Airlines Airbus A380-800 en route from Sydney to Dubai
Where: Sydney
Who: 380 aboard
When: Nov 11, 2012
Why: After takeoff, one engine on the Emirates Airlines Sydney-Dubai flight developed a problem and was shut down. Passengers reported hearing a bang and saw flames from the engine. We do not know if it was a bird strike.
Pilots dumped fuel, returned to Sydney and made a safe landing. Passengers were provided alternative flights.
United Airlines plane had to divert and make an emergency landing at South Arkansas Regional Airport, El Dorado, Arkansas, on March 7.
The Embraer 170, en-route from Indianapolis to Houston, was mid air when the flight attendant saw smoke in its gallery, prompting the crew to divert.
The plane landed uneventfully.
All 70 passengers and crew members onboard remained unhurt.
Volaris Airlines flight Y4-9023 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Glasgow Prestwick Airport in Scotland, United Kingdom, on October 28th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane was heading from Toulouse, France. to Keflavik, Iceland, when it lost communication with the ATC. A fighter jet was dispatched for escort.
The passenger plane, escorted by the fighter jet, then diverted to Glasgow Prestwick Airport where it landed uneventfully.
Everyone aboard remained safe.
Hawaiian Airlines flight HA-458 had to return and make an emergency landing at Haneda Airport, Ota, Tokyo, Japan, on July 18th.
The Airbus A330-200 en-route from Japan to Honolulu, Hawaii was mid-air when the crew reported a leakage in its hydraulic system.
The plane received damage to its tyres during the rollout.
All 293 people onboard remained unharmed.
The flight was cancelled.
Korean Air flight KE-783 made an emergency landing in Fukuoka, Japan, on June 9th.
The Boeing 737-900 plane flying from Busan, South Korea, was descending toward Fukuoka when the crew reported smoke in the cockpit and requested emergency assistance.
The plane continued for a safe landing.
There were one hundred and fifty-three passengers and nine crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.
