    What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-800 en route from Newark to Portland
    Where: Helena
    When: Sunday Dec 6 10 p.m.-6:15 a.m.
    Who: 150 passengers
    Why: While en route to Portland, the plane developed engine trouble, and landed safely in Helena. Passengers were accommodated in the terminal, and a replacement flight arrived to take them to their destination, embarking for Portland at 6:15 a.m.

    RusLine Plane Returns to Samara due to Landing Gear Problems

    RusLineRusLine flight 7R-607 had to return and make an emergency landing at International airport “Kurumoch”, Samara Oblast, Russia, on December 6.

    The Canadair CRJ-200, heading to Krasnodar, Russia, had to return when the crew failed to retract its landing gear.

    The plane landed unhurt.

    All 33 passengers and 3 crew members remained safe.

    Bird-Hit Latam Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Brazil

    LATAMLatam Airlines flight JJ-3527 had to return and make an emergency landing in Porto Velho, Brazil, on June 5th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane, en-route to Brasilia, Brazil, had to turn back after one of the engines ingested a bird, resulting in severe engine vibrations and noises.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Airbus Loses Cowling

    What: Jetblue Airbus A320-200 en route from Newark to Fort Lauderdale
    Where: Newark Liberty International Airport
    When: Apr 5th 2010
    Who: 134 passengers
    Why: During takeoff, the airbus lost the left engine cowling.

    Distressed panicked passengers smelled smoke and said they could see inside the engine.

    Less than a quarter of an hour later, it had landed back at the airport, where the fallen parts had to be gathered.

    The NY Daily news reported that passengers were offered refunds and a free round trip.

    Air Canada Jazz Falling Parts

    What: Air Canada de Havilland Dash 8-300 en route from Vancouver,BC to Kelowna,BC
    Where: Vancouver
    When: Jul 25th 2010
    Who: 35 aboard
    Why: While en route after takeoff, observers witnessed a piece of the plane fall off the plane and on to the runway. The part was determined to be a hydraulic hand pump handle. The decision was made to continue to Kelowna, where the plane landed safely and was examined.

    Maintenance discovered the right engine nacelle missing. After maintenance, on return to Vancouver, the missing parts were replaced.

    Condor Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in St. Louis

    Condor Airlines flight DE-2114 had to divert and make an emergency landing in St. Louis, Missouri, on March 15th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Frankfurt, Germany, to Cancun, Mexico, was diverted after the crew suspected a fuel leak.

    The plane landed safely. All 182 passengers and 10 crew members remained unharmed.
