    United Airlines Flight Diverts to McGhee Tyson Airport

    United airlinesUnited Airlines flight 4343 made an emergency landing at McGhee Tyson Airport in Blount County, Tennessee, on April 27th.

    The plane heading from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was diverted after an indicator light came on in the cockpit.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Rio Vista Collision


    What: Beechcraft 35-A33 Debonair
    Where: Rio Vista California

    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: After the helicopter and plane bumped over Rio Vista, the pilot had to make a hard landing short of Byron Airport, 8 miles south of Rio Vista Municipal Airport. Apparently the plane struck the chopper’s skids. The 1961 six-seat Beechcraft plane involved in the collision is registered to Ronald A. Gawer of Brentwood in Contra Costa County.

    When the Solano Fire crews arrived on the scene, they found the pilot with minor injuries, and the passenger was unhurt.

    According to the owner of the chopper flight school, the chopper was hit from behind by the Beechcraft.

    Delta Diverts to Cedar Rapids with Engine Trouble


    What: Delta en route from Minneapolis to St Louis
    Where: Eastern Iowa Airport
    When: July 11, 2012, 6 pm
    Who: 150 aboard
    Why: The Delta flight was en route from Minneapolis to St Louis when it lost an engine. Pilots diverted to Cedar Rapids Iowa and made a safe landing.

    Johnson and Linn County fire crews were reported as first responders. No injuries were reported.

    UP Chief Minister’s Chopper Landed in Emergency

    Akhilesh YadavA chopper carrying the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh (UP), Akhilesh Yadav and his wife Dimple Yadav had to make an emergency landing at Amausi airport, Lucknow, India.

    According to the authorities, the decision for emergency landing was made after an eagle struck the front window pane of the chopper, at a height of 3000 feet. The pilots then made an uneventful emergency landing at Lucknow airport, which was about 12 km away at the time of incident.

    The chief minister, along with his wife, was returning back after attending the last rituals of his uncle Ratan Singh Yadav in Saifai, Etawah District of UP. His private chopper was originally scheduled to land in La Martiniere college, near his residence.

    Aer Lingus Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cockpit

    Aer Lingus flight EI-712 made an emergency landing in Cork, Ireland, on November 2nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Heathrow Airport, England, but had to return shortly afterwards due to smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    Fuel Shortage Forces Allegiant Air Plane to Make Emergency Landing

    AllegiantAllegiant Air flight 426 had to make an emergency landing at Hector International Airport, Fargo, North Dakota, on July 21.

    The airport was closed for the US Navy’s Blue Angels’ rehearsals, when the pilot requested an emergency landing due to dangerously low fuel level.

    The plane landed safely and all 114 passengers and 6 crew members aboard remained unhurt.

    It is believed that the Boeing MD-80, en-route from Las Vegas was scheduled to land at the airport 12 minutes before it was closed, however, the flight’s take off was delayed.

    The incident is being investigated.
