    Single-Engine Plane Crash Lands at Bankstown Airport, NSW

    CessnaA single engine Cessna aircraft crash-landed at Bankstown Airport in New South Wales, Australia on May 16.

    The fire and rescue teams were informed at about 9:30 a.m. after the aircraft crashed into the fence while attempting to land at the runway. However, rescue officials said that there was no immediate risk of fire since the fuel tank remained undamaged.

    According to the NSW police, the pilot of the Cessna aircraft, a 19 year old girl, survived the crash and is currently being treated for minor injuries.

    Mario Bayndrian, the general manager aviation of Bankstown Airport, said that the Australian Transport Safety Bureau has been informed about the crash.

    Coalinga Crash Kills One


    What: single-engine BE 36 Beechcraft Bonanza en route from Long Beach to the Harris Ranch
    Where: Coalinga
    When: 8:30 p.m. Sunday.
    Who: Fifty-one-year-old Marya Yee died of her injuries at a Fresno hospital. Two others were injured.
    Why: dense fog forced the pilot to abort the landing and turn back to Santa Barbara; then plane lost power . 16 local flights were delayed late Sunday and Monday morning because of fog.

    Airbus A380 Lands at JFK

    Air France Airbus A380 crosses the Atlantic and lands at JFK. Passengers commented on how weirdly quiet the plane is inside, not being able to hear the engines.

    Air France on Friday became the first European airline to operate the double-decker Airbus A380 in commercial service, completing its inaugural flight from Charles De Gaulle Airport in Paris to John F. Kennedy Airport in New York.

    Thank god for the success of this flight. In an earlier flight this time of the year (November) in 2007, during testing, an an Airbus 340-600 crashed through a barrier and rammed into a wall at the Toulouse-Blagnac airport. Nine on board, and one person on the ground were injured. When the airplane’s four engines were throttled up and the brakes applied, the plane lurched into the barrier and wall “for reasons still unknown.”

    Helicopter Crashed During Training Exercise in Southern California; 2 Marines Killed

    HelicopterA Third Marine Aircraft Wing helicopter crashed at Twentynine Palms Marine base in Southern California on the afternoon of January 24.

    The UH-1Y Huey helicopter, carrying 2 Marines, crashed at the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center during a training exercise.

    Both occupants were killed in the crash. They were later identified as Captain Elizabeth Kealey, 32, of Indiana, Pennsylvania and First Lieutenant Adam Satterfield, 25, of Oldham, Kentucky.

    Wing commander Maj. Gen. Michael Rocco said in a statement, “Our hearts go out to the families and friends of the two Marines we lost in this tragic accident.”

    The cause of crash is not known at the moment.

    Ukrainian Pilots die in Congo Helicopter Crash

    What: Mil Mi-2
    Where: Mbouambe,Brazzaville, Congo
    When: July 16, 2012
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: A police Mi-2 helicopter crashed in the Congo. The two pilots, both Ukranian, were killed in the crash. The bodies of the pilots have been recovered and were sent to Brazzaville morgue. The Ukrainian Defense minister reported that the pilots were n ot part of a Ukrainian peacekeeping operation, but may have been employed by a Russian or Belarusian airline or employed by the UN.
