    What: Swiss Airlines Airbus A319-100 en route from St. Petersburg to Zurich
    Where: St. Petersburg
    When: Jan 10th 2010
    Who: 123 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: After a successful takeoff, the flight crew informed ATC that there were vibrations in one of the engines. The plane returned to Pulkovo Airport and made a safe landing, where maintenance confirmed a bird strike.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to McGhee Tyson Airport

    United airlinesUnited Airlines flight 4343 made an emergency landing at McGhee Tyson Airport in Blount County, Tennessee, on April 27th.

    The plane heading from Knoxville, Tennessee, to Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, was diverted after an indicator light came on in the cockpit.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Hot Plane Lands in Charlotte

    What: US Airways Boeing 767-200 en route from Charlotte to Philadelphia
    Where: Charlotte,NC
    When: Jul 23rd 2010
    Who: 196 passengers
    Why: Passengers had boarded the hot plane, disembarked and reboarded. Finally, after takeoff, a quarter hour into the flight, cabin temperatures had risen to over 110 degrees F. The plane returned to Charlotte and landed safely. Several passengers were hospitalized with heat issues.

    No doubt there will be fines.

    A replacement jet was provided.

    Southwest Flight Lands in Emergency with Blown Tire

    southwestboeingSouthwest Airlines flight 1359 had to land in emergency at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Phoenix, Arizona, shortly before 1:30 p.m. on October 6.

    The flight was on its way from Phoenix to Newark when a blown tire was observed on the aircraft’s main landing gear. The plane was then diverted to making an emergency landing.

    Southwest spokesperson Dan Landson said that the plane landed uneventfully after burning off extra fuel. All 135 passengers and 5 crew members were shifted to another aircraft.

    Kenya Airways Flight Returns to Nairobi due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Kenya Airways flight KQ-112 had to return and make an emergency landing in Nairobi, Kenya, on December 28th.

    The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Charles de Gaulle Airport, France, but had to return shortly afterwards due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The passenger oxygen masks were deployed as the plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Regional Express Airlines Jet Makes Emergency Landing at Orange Airport

    RexRegional Express Airlines Flight ZL936 had to make an emergency landing at Orange Airport, New South Wales, Australia, at around 2 p.m. on January 12.

    Authorities said the Saab 340 plane was heading from Sydney to Broken Hill when the crew requested permission for emergency landing due to an “alleged fault” in one of the engines.

    The plane landed uneventfully and all 28 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.

    The airline made alternative arrangement for the passengers.

    The incident is under investigation.
