Why: Dispatchers lost contact with the helicopter crew before 6 a.m. A lightning strike and a fireball was seen near the field where the wreckage was found, a location that was found by GPS.

Telluride Crash kills three pilots

At 11:20 a.m. Sunday, three pilots were en route from Telluride Regional Airport to Cortez, Colorado. After the Arizona Cloudbusters Inc Beechcraft 35-33 Debonair “disappeared,” the Civil Air Patrol instituted a search and found the wreckage a mile from the airport. Sherry Anderson, 57, and Sherman Anderson, 64, of Phoenix, and Eric Durban, 48, of Mesa, died in the single-engine plane crash. There was light snow, one mile visibility and light wind at the time of takeoff. Shortly after takeoff, the plane impacted mountainous terrain then caught fire.The Andersons were commercial pilots. Durban was a military pilot. They were members of Arizona Cloudbusters Flying Club.
Their last communication was with Telluride airport on takeoff at 12:40p.m. which is when ATC instituted the search. The plane was spotted at 5:17 pm.
An investigation is underway.
2 Killed After Plane Crashes into Warehouse in Germany
Two people were killed after a small plane crashed into a tires warehouse in Bremen, northern Germany, in the early afternoon of August 1.
According to police spokesman Dirk Siemering, the aircraft came down shortly after taking off from Bremen airport.
The rescue workers found two bodies at the tires warehouse, however, their identities have not so far been released.
The cause of the crash is not yet clear.

Tourists Die in Peruvian Crash

What: Air Nasca Cessna 185 # OB-1808 sightseeing tour of Nazca Lines en route from Maria Reiche airport
Where: south of Lima, Peru
When: Oct. 2, 2010
Who: 6 aboard, 6 fatalities (Four British tourists, Peruvian pilot and co pilot )
Why: During a flight to observe the Nazca Lines, the plane experienced engine trouble. While the pilot was attempting an emergency landing, the sightseeing tour plane crashed, killing all aboard.British passengers included Andrew Brown, 30, Gayle Callow, 34, and Warren Denham. The flight was piloted by Gilberto Zúñiga and Ricardo Cárdenas.
Some sources are saying there were only the three (not four) British passengers aboard, but other sources say there were three men and a woman in addition to the crew.
James Dauris, the British ambassador to Peru, has visited the scene of the crash.
About 40 planes operate in the area where flights have been banned before, due to more than a dozen local carriers not living up to international flight standards.

Medical Helicopter Makes Emergency Landing in California
A medical helicopter had to make an emergency landing on a vacant lot in Rancho Cordova, Sacramento County, California, on March 23rd.
The helicopter was carrying a toddler with burned hands to UC Davis Medical Center when it started to smoke, prompting the crew to land.
The helicopter landed safely.
The toddler was transported to the hospital.

Why: The biologists were counting salmon spawning nests on the nearby Selway River.The crash is attributed to an apparent mechanical malfunction in the helicopter. Witnesses say the helicopter was making popping sounds and that material was coming off it before it nosedived straight down. The pilot struggled to keep the helicopter from crashing into a nearby school. It ended up in a driveway, damaging a home and a trailer.
