
On December 19, 2012, a Stringer Welding Inc Beechcraft B100 King Air was en route to Libby Area Airport when it crashed in William’s Gulch, Swede Mountain, MT killing the pilot and a passenger.
A witness living on Swede Mountain heard the plane when it impacted.
National Transportation Security Board officials and Search and Rescue found the crashed plane heavily damaged after a difficult search in bad weather. Search and rescue members snow-mobiled into the area, used hand-held Emergency Locator Transmitters (ELT) to find the wreckage. The beacon was found intact.
The plane had been piloted by Carl Douglas, CEO of Stinger Welding Inc. The passenger was John Smith, a Stinger company driver. Their recovery is pending weather conditions.
