Why: After takeoff, the Airbus thrust reverser malfunctioned and the crew had to return to the airport. They made a safe landing half an hour later, and passengers disembarked, eventually boarding another plane.
Hong Kong Airlines flight HX-6704 had to return and make an emergency landing in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia, on May 7th.
The Airbus A330-200, heading to Hong Kong, China, had to turn back after severe turbulence injured 17 people onboard.
The plane landed uneventfully. Twelve of the injured were taken to hospital while the others were treated at the airport.

Why: On takeoff, the gear liver broke. The crew flew on to Kagoshima, landing under emergency conditions with rescue crew on standby. The flight made a safe landing, and was towed.
At Kagoshima, the gear lever was replaced.
Aeropostal Alas de Venezuela flight VH-302 had to return and make an emergency landing in Caracas, Venezuela, on February 12th.
The plane took off for Porlamar, Venezuela, but had to return shortly afterwards after one of the engines emitted flames and a loud bang.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
