    British Airways Jet Rejects Take Off after Engine Ingests Bird

    British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA-491 rejected take off from Gibraltar International Airport in Gibraltar, on June 7th.

    The plane was accelerating to take off for Heathrow Airport, London, United Kingdom, when one of the engines ingested a sea gull, prompting to pilots to reject take off.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Chicago O’Hare Airport

    British Airways flight BA-294 had to return and make an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on September 3rd.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Heathrow Airport, England, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    BA Stowaway Dies in Landing Gear Bay

    What: British Airways Boeing 747-400 en route from Cape Town to London
    Where: London
    When: Aug 23rd 2012
    Who: 1 fatality
    Why: It has not been released whether the stowaway found in the plane’s landing gear bay died from exposure or lack of oxygen. Temperatures at 30,000 feet are between -40 and -50ºC. The body was found by crew at Heathrow and is presumed to be the trespasser who evaded pursuers in the Cape Town International Airport. Police were called at 6.25am when the body was found.

    British Airways Plane Returns and makes Emergency Landing in Italy

    British airwaysBritish Airways flight BA-2607 had to return and make an emergency landing at Naples International Airport, Naples, Italy, on March 31.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route to London, England, was climbing out of Naples when a chemical smell was sensed onboard, prompting the plane to return. The airline reported that there was a technical issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All passengers and crew members onboard remained unharmed.

    British Airways Flight Returns to London Heathrow

    British airwaysBritish Airways Flight 103 from London Heathrow airport, United Kingdom, to Calgary, Canada, had to return and make an emergency landing on the evening of August 12.

    Smoke was discovered in the cockpit of the Boeing 767 while it was flying over Liverpool. The pilot requested an emergency landing which was immediately granted.

    According to a British Airways spokesperson Michele Kropt, “It [the plane] landed safely and all passengers disembarked as normal.”

    She confirmed that the engineers were inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of smoke.

    British Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Berlin Tegel Airport

    British Airways flight BA-232 made an emergency landing at Berlin Tegel Airport, Germany, on November 16th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane heading from Moscow Domodedovo Airport, Russia, to Heathrow Airport, England, was diverted due to the loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
