    Piper Lands in Canadian Blizzard


    On Jan 29, 2013, at 9:15 a.m., an Image Air Charter Ltd Piper PA-46-500TP Malibu Meridian was en route from La Crete, Alta to Three Hills (Canada) with three people aboard when it attempted to land in bad weather at Three Hills Airport.

    The plane descended into a blizzard, and at one end of the runway struck an ice berm that knocked off the left wing. One wing and the landing gear were damaged. Conditions were so bad that no one at the hanger knew there was an accident until emergency crews arrived. Three Hills RCMP, Fire and EMS responded. An environmental services company cleaned up the fuel leak.

    One passenger who was suffering chest pains was taken to the hospital.

    The 2008 Piper PA-46-500TP Turbo Prop is registered to Image Air Charter Ltd.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Fed Ex Emergency Field Landing

    What: FedEx Cessna 209 B en route from Syracuse to Plattsburg
    Where: field off Elmer Hill Road, adjacent to the intersections of Elmerhill and Chmelewski roads, Oneida County, NY
    When: Dec 03, 2009 7:45 a.m.
    Who: pilot
    Why: After his engine exploded in mid-air, the pilot–with 8,000 flight hours in this type plane–aimed to land at Griffiss International Airport. While losing altitude, he pulled the plane (with its smoking engine) up, missing several homes and then dropping to land in an open field beside the Lake Delta Volunteer Fire Department, not far from the airport.

    A contractor, Wiggins Airways, out of Manchester, New Hampshire operated the plane.

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Atlanta due to Pressurisation Issue

    Delta Airlines flight DL-9958 had to return and make an emergency landing in Atlanta, Georgia, on April 28th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Boston, Massachusetts, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a pressurisation issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Kuwait Emergency Landing

    What: Kuwait Airways Airbus A320-200 en route from Tehran Imam Khomeini Iran to Kuwait
    Where: Imam Khomeini International Airport
    When: Oct 20th 2009
    Who: 112 passengers
    Why: The Airbus developed hydraulics and flight control problems shortly after takeoff, so it returned to the airport for an emergency landing.

    No injuries…and back in service in 5 hours.

    Air Austral Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Leak

    471px-Air_Austral_logo.svgAir Austral flight U-612 made an emergency landing in Saint Denis, located in the French overseas region of Reunion, on November 7.

    The Avions de Transport Regional jet was flying from Antananarivo, Madagascar, when the crew declared emergency due to a hydraulic leak.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Fuzhou Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Fuzhou, China

    Fuzhou AirlinesFuzhou Airlines flight FU-6509 had to return and make an emergency landing in Fuzhou, China, on August 18th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Kunming, China, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike that damaged a pitot tube.

    The plane landed uneventfully after burning off excess fuel. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
