    Private Cessna Crashes en route to Council Bluffs, 3 Fatalities Reported

    What: Privately owned Cessna 401 en route from Riverside Kansas to Council Bluffs Kansas
    Where: Thomas Road between 1900 & 2000 or 9 miles west of Chanute, KS
    When: May 11, 2012 16:36
    Who: 5 aboard, 3 fatalities
    Why: The privately owned Cessna was en route to Council Bluffs when it told ATC it requested permission to descend to a lower altitude, then crashed near Chanute and caught on fire. The plane skidding 200 feet across a field before it hit trees.

    23-year-old pilot, Luke F. Sheets, Garret Coble of Tulsa and Stephen J. Luth, 22 died in the crash according to Shawnee County Coroner’s Office-Topeka.

    22-year-old Hannah N. Luce of Texas and 27-year-old Austin G. Anderson were injured. Hannah was hospitalized at KU Medical Center-Kansas City, KS and Austin at Christi St. Francis Hospital-Wichita.

    Chanute is about 90 miles northwest of Joplin, Mo.

    The plane crashed in a field east of Highway 75. Two of the five aboard survived the crash.

    PIA Jet Makes Emergency Landing due to Landing Gear Problem

    pia-logoPakistan International Airlines flight PK758 had to make an emergency landing at Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore, Pakistan, on December 30.

    The flight, en-route from London, United Kingdom, declared emergency after its landing gear became jammed.

    The plane landed with only minor damage. None of the passengers and crew members was hurt.

    Airport operations were temporarily suspended following the incident.

    Etihad Airways Flight Diverts to Perth due to Medical Emergency

    EtihadA medical emergency prompted an Etihad Airways flight to make an unscheduled landing in Perth, Australia, at about 1:30 p.m. on November 18.

    The flight, heading from Abu Dhabi to Melbourne, was diverted for an emergency landing after a passenger became ill midair.

    The plane landed safely and the passenger was shifted to St Charles Gairdner Hospital. It is believed that he suffered a stroke.

    Several Injured After Chicago-Bound EVA Air Plane Hits Turbulence

    EVA Air flight BR-56 encountered severe turbulence on the way to Chicago, Illinois, on November 22nd.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane flying from Taipei, Taiwan, was near Fukuoka, Japan, when it hit turbulence that injured three passengers and nine crew members.

    The plane continued to Chicago and landed uneventfully.

    The injured were taken to a hospital.

    Fort Carson Black Hawk Crashes in Douglas County

    helicoptersaop1A military chopper made a hard landing in U.S. Forest Service land, south of Rampart Range Road and Colorado 67, in Douglas County, Colorado, on September 2.

    The 4th Combat Aviation Brigade, 4th Infantry Division, UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter took off from Fort Carson and was on a routine training flight when it went down.

    There were 4 soldiers on-board at the time; all of them were injured. They were taken to Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.

    The incident is being investigated.

    Small Plane Crashes at Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport

    A single-engine Piper PA-28 Cherokee crashed at the Charles B. Wheeler Downtown Airport in Missouri, at around 7 p.m. on March 1.

    The incident happened when the plane was attempting touch-and-go landings at the airport. Authorities said the aircraft loss power before it went down near the Missouri River.

    There were 2 people aboard at the time of accident; the pilot remained unharmed while his female passenger broke her arm. She was taken to hospital.

    The accident is being investigated.
