    JetBlue Plane Diverts to North Carolina after Medical Emergency

    JetBlueA JetBlue plane had to divert and make an emergency landing at Wilmington International Airport, Wilmington, North Carolina, on April 20th.

    The plane heading from New York, to Ford Lauderdale, was diverted to when a passenger onboard suffered some medical issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    The sick passenger died shortly after landing.

    What: Australian Jetstar (division of Qantas) Airbus A330-200 en route from Japan to Australia (Osaka Kansai to Bilinga Gold Coast)
    Where: emergency landing on the island of Guam
    When: June 10th
    Who: 203 mostly Japanese passengers and crew
    Why: When a fire broke out in the cockpit when the plane was over the Pacific Ocean, one of the pilots used a fire extinguisher to control the fire.

    Passengers debarked normally.

    The plane is only two years old; and will be held in Guam as the incident is investigated. 4 investigators will be sent to examine the aircraft.

    What: Delta/Northwest DC-9 en route from Detroit to Manchester
    Where: Hancock Airport
    When: Thursday afternoon
    Who: 108 people
    Why: An indicator signified that an engine failed, causing the pilot to commit to an emergency landing at Hancock airport. No injuries were reported.

    United Airlines Flight Diverts to Chicago due to Crew Oxygen Supply Problems

    United Airlines flight UA-351 made an emergency landing at O’Hare International Airport, Chicago, Illinois, on July 7th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Boston, Massachusetts, to San Francisco, California, was diverted due to problems with crew oxygen supply.

    The plane landed safely.

    Norwegian Air International Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Gatwick Airport

    Norwegian Air International flight D8-371 had to make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, England, on May 17th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Helsinki, Finland, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew noticed an issue with the slats.

    The plane landed back safely. There were 183 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Vienna-Bound El Al Flight Returns to Tel Aviv

    El Al flight LY-363 had to return and make an emergency landing in Tel Aviv, Israel, on April 10th.

    The Boeing 737-900 plane took off for Vienna, Austria, but had to turn back after smoke was noticed in a galley.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and thirty people aboard remained unharmed.
