    Where: taking off a grass runway at Baxby Air Sports Club, Husthwaite, near Easingwold, North Yorkshire UK

    Who: the pilot, and a passenger were both taken to York District Hospital.

    Swiss International Air Lines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich

    Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-18 had to return and make an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on March 30th.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Newark, New Jersey, but had to turn back due to an issue with the left engine’s fuel control system.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and twenty passengers and twelve crew members remained unharmed.

    Jet2 flight with Hydraulic problems diverts to Portugal

    What: jet2.com Boeing 757-200 en route from Tenerife to Manchester
    Where: Faro
    When: Oct 13 2012
    Why: The Tenerife to Manchester flight was en route when the plane developed a problem with the hydraulics.

    Pilots diverted the flight to Faro in Algarve, Portugal where they made a safe landing.

    A replacement jet was provided to complete the flight.

    Germanwings Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Hydraulic Leak

    germanwingsGermanwings Airlines flight 4U-585 made an emergency landing at Cologne Bonn Airport in Germany, on October 27th.

    The Airbus A330-200 plane was flying from Palma, Spain, when the crew discovered a leak in a hydraulic system.

    The crew decided to continue to Cologne where the plane landed safely.

    All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Olympic Airlines Boeing 737-400 en route from Alexandroupolis to Athens
    Where: Alexandroupolis’ Democritus Airport
    When: Jul 22nd
    Who: 60 passengers
    Why: The OA took off, and shortly afterwards flew through a flock of birds, several of which were ingested. The plane made an emergency landing back at the airport, after which passengers debarked and switched to other flights.
