    JetBlue Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Barbados

    JetBlue flight B625 made an emergency landing at Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados, on January 8th.

    The plane was flying from Boston, Massachusetts, when the crew reported a pungent odor on-board.

    Air India Plane Makes Emergency Landing in New Delhi

    airindia2Air India flight AI-410 had to make an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport, New Delhi, India, at around 11 A.M. on July 31.

    The pilot of Airbus A-319 requested emergency landing after detecting a technical snag. The plane was flying from Patna to New Delhi at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

    Vegas Metro Helicopter Lands Safely


    What: Metro helicopter
    Where: vacant lot near Fremont Street and Bruce in Downtown Las Vegas.
    When: Nov 5, 2008
    Who: Unnamed officers and pilot
    Why:Witnesses saw the helicopter swaying back and forth before it landed safely. Pilots anticipated a problem and landed on the empty lot. Maintenance staff was able to do on site repairs to the part that controls the rotor speed so that the helicopter was able to take off, and return the helicopter back to the hanger where it landed safely.

    United Express Plane Returns to Milwaukee due to Engine Issue

    United ExpressUnited Express flight 5393, operated by SkyWest Airlines, had to return and make an emergency landing at General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on July 28.

    According to SkyWest Airlines, the plane had to return after the pilots noticed an engine issue. The flight was heading to Chicago, Illinois, at the time.

    The plane landed uneventfully and all 41 passengers aboard remained safe.

    Pegasus “Sochi Olympics” Hijack Attempt


    On Feb 7 2014, on a Pegasus Airlines Boeing 737-86J en route from Kharkov to Istanbul, the 45-year-old passenger seated in “2F” hollered “BOMB!” threatened there was a bomb in the baggage compartment and wanted to hijack the plane to go to the Sochi Olympics. His attempt to enter the cockpit was foiled. When pilots entered Turkish airspace, they informed authorities.

    An F-16 Turkish military fighter jet was called to provide an escort.

    The flight landed in Istanbul (on the Asian side of the airport where Pegasus has its hub) where the Ukrainian man was taken into custody.

    There was no bomb. None of the 110 passengers were hurt.

    The passenger was just intoxicated.

    AA Flight Returns to Jacksonville International Airport due to Mechanical Issue

    American AirlinesAmerican Airlines flight 1373 had to return and make an emergency landing at Jacksonville International Airport, Florida, on November 12.

    The MD-80 plane took off for Dallas, Texas, but had to return shortly afterwards after the pilot reported a mechanical problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 140 passengers and 5 crew members remained unhurt.
