A small plane made an emergency landing in a field near Dog Creek Road off Highway 221 in Ashe County, North Carolina, on November 13.
The single-engine Cirrus SR22 plane, carrying 2 people, was en-route from DeKalb-Peachtree Airport, Georgia, to Lancaster, when it lost power, forcing the pilot to land in a field.
The plane landed uneventfully. Both people aboard remained unhurt.
Ryanair flight FR-3445 had to return and make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport, Manchester, England, UK, on April 1st.
The Boeing 737-800, en-route to Palma, Mallorca, Spain, was mid-air after departure when a bird impacted the aircraft, prompting the crew to stop the climb and return.
The plane’s right hand engine was affected by the bird strike.
All people onboard remained unharmed.

Who: 143 passengers 6 crew
Why: While en route, passengers felt vibrations, and smelled smoke before the pilots made an emergency diversion at the Rochester airport. They landed with the fire department on standby.
An engine was judged to be faulty and is being replaced while at the Rochester airport. Most of the stranded passengers finished the last leg of their trip on buses provided by Delta, though some rented cars.

What: AZ Aeromachine 1946 Twin Navion twin engine en route from Anoka County-Blaine Airport
Where: Cardinal Creek Conservation Area, Eden Prarie
When: 12:30 p.m Oct 5, 2009
Who: pilot Bob Fiske
Why: When the plane crashed, witnesses rushed to break the windshield and rescue the trapped pilot.
The pilot was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center.
What: Single engined plane owned by Sydney Flight Training Centre
Where: Sydney’s Bankstown airport southern runway
When: 10.20am
Who: pilot was injured. No one else was aboard. He was taken to Liverpool hospital for an assortment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Why: On landing, the plane skidded down the runway and flipped.

What: Primera Air Boeing 737-700 en route from Greece to Dublin
Where: Dublin
When: Aug 14th 2009
Who: 148 passengers and 6 crew
Why: High fuel consumption observed during the flight appeared to point to a fuel leak, leading to an emergency landing in Dublin. The “minor” leak that was discovered in the left engine was repaired.

Maintenance saves the day, again…
Nepal Airlines flight RA-409 made an emergency return to Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, Nepal, on November 7.
The Airbus A320-200, en-route to Hong Kong, China, had to return to Kathmandu due to an unusual odour smelled in its cockpit.
The plane landed safely.
All 121 people on board remained unharmed.
