    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Minneapolis due to Engine Issue

    Delta Airlines flight DL-1748 had to return and make an emergency landing in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on April 12th.

    The Boeing 757-200 plane took off for Denver, Colorado, but had to turn back due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    What: Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Albuquerque,NM to Oakland,CA
    Where: Oakland
    When: Dec 1st 2011
    Who: 95 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: On approach to Oakland, the plane flew through ten seconds of turbulence that injured the cabin crew.

    The pilots made a safe landing half an hour later, after which two members of the crew were hospitalized.

    Croatia Airlines Plane Returns to Zagreb due to Engine Problem

    Croatia AirlinesCroatia Airlines flight OU-410 had to return for an emergency landing in Zagreb, Croatia, on September 4th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Frankfurt, Germany, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a fault in left hand engine.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All passengers and crew members remained safe.

    American Airlines Engine Failure over Dallas Ft Worth (again)

    What: American Airlines MD 80 en route from Dallas Texas to Ontario, California
    Where: Dallas Fort Worth Airport
    When: July 26, 2011
    Who: 133 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: After eight minutes in the air, the plane indicated some kind of problem. Passengers reported hearing some kind of explosion. The crew confirmed this, declaring an emergency and reporting an engine failure.

    Small Plane Crashes in Indiana; Pilot Killed

    A small plane crashed near Goshen Municipal Airport, Indiana, on February 21st.

    The pilot was practicing approaches to the airport when the plane hit power lines and went down.

    The pilot, Neal Myers, 55, of Middlebury, was killed in the crash.

    Jetstar Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Perth due to Brake Failure Indication

    JetstarJetstar flight JQ117 had to make an emergency landing at Perth airport in Australia, on October 16.

    The plane was flying from Denpasar, Indonesia, when the crew reported a brake failure indication and requested a ‘clear runway, for an emergency landing.’

    According to the airline, “Air traffic control asked the captain to conduct a holding pattern until the runway could be cleared for landing… Following a short period of holding, the captain landed the aircraft safely…. There was no issue with the aircraft braking system during the landing.”

    None of the 181 people aboard were injured.
